First Impressions: Animal Crossing New Leaf: Welcome Amiibo!

I actually had some time over the holidays to dive into Animal Crossing New Leaf: Welcome amiibo for the 3DS, which I was really happy about! I was happy to have the opportunity to start fresh and see firsthand how the Welcome amiibo updates were incorporated into New Leaf!

After answering a few questions for Rover, I stepped off the train and into my new town of Tilt! (Fun fact: Tilt is the name of the arcade my husband and I met at almost 14 years ago!)

Despite telling these cute but hard-headed animals that I was NOT their mayor, they wouldn’t listen to me, and I became the mayor anyway. My new secretary, Isabelle, told me I needed to become a resident before I did anything else.

I found my pal Tom Nook, who set up a tent for me to camp out in until I had enough to make a down payment on a house. Dude, if I’m the mayor, you should treat me a little better than that! Asshole…

Anyway, after that, I planted a tree and officially become the mayor of Tilt!

I then met my new villagers: Poppy, Purrl, Ruby, Tucker, and Genji.

I got a present in the mail from Nintendo, but it was just the instruction manual for the game. Thanks?

I also learned more about MEOW coupons, which you get by completing certain town initiatives like the one below:

You can then trade coupons for items at the campground, which is run by a cool dude named Harvey!

I love the hippie vibe! I’ve had several campers, including Pavé, Zipper T. Bunny, Blanca, Jack, Saharah and Franklin! I haven’t scanned any villager cards just yet.

Since it’s winter, I’ve been making snow people every day, even though this tends to happen:

I didn’t drop that in the pond- a dung beetle pushed it in there! Those things can be so annoying sometimes.

I also found Wisp’s lamp, so I can summon him whenever I want! He’s so cute.

I’ve had several new villagers quickly move in, including Frank, Pashmina, and Julian, with Eloise on her way!

I’ve also managed to fall in a few pitfalls… rude!

I didn’t get to participate in the New Year’s celebration, but I did visit Isabelle and Crazy Redd earlier in the day, and I got a snazzy New Year’s hat to help celebrate!

Last night when I played, the Northern Lights were quite stunning.

Oh, and one last thing… Nookling Junction has yet to sell a damn slingshot, so I’ve had many balloons go sailing right past my head! 😦

Conclusion:

I have nothing but praise for this game! I am really enjoying my new town, and I love all the new features that were added to the game. The campground is probably my favorite addition, because you never know who is going to show up each day! I’m so glad my husband got this game for me! 🙂

  1. Aww cute story and pictures! I’m somewhat tempted to start a new game for this, but I couldn’t dare demolish my old town with perfect beauty and lots of gold flowers. It was a great move to update the game with amiibo support though. Maybe they’ll have a new Switch version in the future too. Glad you’re having a great time in Tilt!

    1. Thanks!! 🙂 Yeah there is no way I wanted to get rid of my “old” New Leaf town either, so that’s why I wanted a separate copy of the updated game. I agree, I love the amiibo support! It is really neat. Just seeing different campers in the campground everyday brings a smile to my face! A Switch version of Animal Crossing would be amazing! I’m still waiting for the mobile game too… 😉

  2. You are your hubby first met at an arcade called Tilt?! Awww…. how cute!! I will have to ask you more about that later!! LOL. Tilt is a great town name!! Yes, I think AC on Switch would be awesome too!! I enjoyed looking at all your new AC New Leaf Amiibo villagers!! I only have one copy of this game.. and have thought really hard about starting over.. Oh, the choices!!! Too much!!! Wisp is so cute.. 😉

    1. Yeah lol we met at an arcade, how fitting right? 😉 I almost didn’t want to start over either, but I still have my old town to go back to, so it’s not like I got rid of it. It just means I have another town to keep up with! 😉 And I love cute little Wisp, he’s so sweet!

  3. Very fitting and meant to be… right? Meeting in an arcade!!!! Very romantic!!! hee heee.. 😉 Like I said, I will want to ask you more about how you and your hubby met!! I just love those kind of stories.. ha ha.. My husband and I met at a bible study that happened to take place at his parent’s house. My story is not as interesting as yours probably.. lol. Anyway, yes, I wish Wisp was a real ghost in real life so that we could be buddies!! LOL. I also think that if I ever owned a solid white kitty cat… I would name her/him Wisp… I think that would make a great kitty name!! ha ha.. 😉

    1. Aww haha well someday I will tell you about it! Maybe I’ll write it in an email 🙂 That’s cute how you and your husband met though! And you are right, Wisp would make a good kitty name! I think it would make a good name for a white bunny too!

      1. Yeah, I love writing emails back and forth with you! I need to do that again soon! I’ve been so sick this week, so I haven’t done much of anything! My head and ears are all clogged. I keep sneezing and coughing non-stop! I feel pretty miserable. My kids didn’t have school today because of parent/teacher conferences, so we are home together and they are kind of taking care of me! lol. We’re finally watching the Pets movie! We’re only half way thru it so far.. It isn’t what I thought it would be! The previews looked so cute and hilarious, but so far it’s not that funny and it’s kind of disappointing! Too bad! Have you watched it yet? Oh, but there is a bad, adorable white bunny in the movie! He’s kind of funny. Yes, Wisp would make a great name for any furry, white creature! 🙂

      2. Aww I’m sorry to hear you have been so sick! Do you have the flu? It seems like a lot of people I know are getting sick lately. Glad your kids were taking care of you. Oh, that sucks that the Pets movie is disappointing to you! No, I still haven’t watched it lol! At least the animals are all super cute, right? 😉 Hope you feel better really soon!
