Four in February… in March!

I learned about the Four in February challenge from my friend The Shameful Narcissist a couple weeks back, and I thought it was pretty neat! Basically, the Four in February challenge is a fun way to clear some of your gaming backlog by picking four games that you want to beat in the month of February!

Now, I didn’t even know about this until February was halfway over, and I didn’t want to participate in something for only half of a month. That would put me at a bit of a disadvantage! So, I decided to break the rules and participate in Four in February… but in March! I make my own rules. 😉

I came up with 4 different categories for my games: One Game I’ve Been Playing Anyway, One Game I Should Have Definitely Beaten By Now, One Game I’ve Had Forever and Haven’t Touched, and One Game Together! Here’s the games I’ve chosen for each category:

One Game I’ve Been Playing Anyway

This one was an easy one to pick. Every night after I get out of the shower, I play a level of Super Mario Run for the iPhone! Yes, I realize playing one level a day might be considered dragging the game out and I could easily have the game beaten in a day or so if I sat there and actually played it straight through, but this way I have something to look forward to every day! I’m in the 4th World already, so I should be able to finish this game up this month.

One Game I Should Have Definitely Beaten By Now

Oh man… for this category, I shamefully pick Pokémon Blue for the Game Boy. I love this game, it’s adorable, it’s awesome… I only have one badge. I’ve only caught like 13 Pokémon. I don’t know what my problem is. This game must be beaten.

One Game I’ve Had Forever and Haven’t Touched

I love Harvest Moon. I have several of the games, but one that I was really excited about was Harvest Moon: Animal Parade for the Wii. I loved the fact that the game was focused on owning animals, and I couldn’t wait to play it. That was in 2008. Do you think I’ve ever played it? Nope.

One Game Together

As you know, Michael and I will pick a game to play through together, which is a lot of fun! A couple days ago we started up ZombiiU for the Wii U! We will definitely be playing more of this game in the coming days. It’s a fun game!

Well, there is my list of games! Hopefully I can at least make some progress with each of these games, even if I don’t end up beating them all. I’ll make sure to write about my progress throughout the month! 🙂

  1. Very nice. I quite enjoyed Zombi myself (didn’t have a WiiU so it was the Xbox One version), although I didn’t get the best ending. There’s something a poster on Howlongtobeat came up with for March : 4on4. In which you would play and finish 4 different games on 4 different systems. I like that idea!

    1. I don’t think we will get the best ending either… we are on our 5th survivor already! Oops! Some of the game is trial and error though, and the controls seemed a little clunky at first. But we are having a lot of fun with it anyway!

4on4 sounds pretty cool too! Hmm, technically I am doing that, since I do have 4 different games on 4 different systems that I am trying to beat! 🙂

  2. Good luck with your goals! 🙂 I played Pokemon Yellow, Blue, Red, Gold, and Silver for many childhood hours, haha.

    1. Thanks! I don’t expect that I’ll actually finish all 4 games, but I’ll see how far I get! I honestly don’t know why I never finished Pokémon Blue. That’s cool that you played all of those! I used to play Pokémon Crystal all the time 🙂

  3. Good luck and thanks for the mention! I think it’s a brilliant idea to start in March. One, you only found out about it in the middle of February, and two, March is a longer month, so more time to play/finish lol. I like your sub categories, too. I did finish a game I was playing; I “did not finish” a game I started during that time due to disinterest, and I played the majority of and watched the rest of another. I consider it a successful month 🙂

    1. Thanks, and you are very welcome for the mention! 🙂 I was trying to think of creative categories to pick games from, so I’m glad you like them! Yeah, your month sounds super successful to me! 😉 If anything, I think this challenge is designed to give you that gentle push to make progress with some of your backlog, whether you actually complete the games or not!

  4. I’ve been playing Golden Sun as a “really want to finish this, but am not really enjoying it” kinda game. There is nothing erong with it, i just cant be arsed with it.

I’ve never played a Metroid or Castlevania game, so I should probably beat one of those!

I’ve got about 200 games i own that I have never played. The longest one I’ve owned would probably be Tomb Raider. Owned it in 97, and sold it in about 99 having never played it. Rebought aboou 07, still bot played it…

Only game my missus likes is OG Super Mario Bros, so we’re playing that. Tried convincing her to play Lost Levels, but she saw through the ruse

    1. Haha I’ve always wanted to try Golden Sun, I thought it was a really interesting idea! I know the feeling though. There are many games that I’ve started and know I should finish, but for one reason or another I just don’t feel like it! I’m sure if I counted up all the games I’ve owned and never played, I’d have around the same amount as you! I also have Tomb Raider and played it for about 3 minutes, haha! That’s nice that you’re playing Super Mario Bros. though! I do love that game. Aww sorry she won’t try the Lost Levels, they are really fun but really difficult!

  5. You probably already know what I am going to say in this comment! PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE… Make time to play Harvest Moon: Animal Parade!!! LOL. You will feel so much better when you do!! The characters and the animals will make your heart go awww…. and you will die of all the adorableness in the game! I played this game all summer long once and I just couldn’t let go! Play it.. because if you don’t you will regret it!! HA HA HA!!!!

    1. Aww! I know I need to play Animal Parade! So far I have not had the time to start it, and I’m so bummed! I hope maybe I’ll have some time this weekend to get started. My cousin was so addicted to this game a few months back and she kept telling me how adorable it was!

  6. ha ha ha.. Your cousin is so right! Animal Parade is very addicting! And then when I went to sleep at night.. I dreamed of feeding Harvest Moon animals almost every night!! Floating animals in my dreams.. ha ha ha.. It was the best dreams ever… lol 🙂

    1. Aww haha that sounds so cute! I’ve dreamed about games I’ve played before too! I dreamed about being in the Barrel Volcano from Super Mario RPG, and that was a little weird lol! If I’m playing a game a lot, sometimes I will see the gameplay in my mind before I fall asleep!
