(Sort of) Liebster Award!

Hey everyone! I hope you all had a wonderful holiday. The holiday season isn’t quite over yet, since New Year’s Eve is tomorrow (or “today” since it’ll probably be after midnight by the time I publish this post)! This time of year is always pretty busy for me, but I love being able to see family and enjoy getting into the holiday spirit. I’m always bummed when it’s over and life is back to normal in January! Anyway, I’ve got several posts planned for this blog, plus I have some fun future plans for this blog, so bear with me as I get caught up on everything! 🙂

A little while ago, my friend The Shameful Narcissist posted a Liebster Award with some fun questions! She tagged everyone and I thought I’d go ahead and answer them, even if I am 3 months late to the party. One day I’ll be all caught up on the posts I want to do! So, here’s my answers!

1. When was the last time you laughed? What at?

Disclaimer: I tend to laugh at the dumbest shit. And sometimes when I start laughing, I can’t stop! I’m easily amused. 😉 I laughed a little while ago at my dog Minnie, because she was playing with a toy that was pretty much the size of her, and she tripped over it. She’s a happy little thing though, so she just kept on playing!

This is Minnie on her 10th birthday a couple months ago. She’s always happy!

2. What’s the weather like where you are? How does it affect you?

Surprisingly, it is cold here right now! Well, cold to me anyway. As someone who has lived in Florida all my life, if it’s in the 60s I’m cold LOL! The high today was only around 60. In the next few days, we actually aren’t supposed to get out of the 50s with lows in the 30s, and it’s supposed to rain. It is nice to have some “winter” weather, but it does make my head hurt and I get achy all over. I’m not cut out for cold weather, but I try to enjoy it anyway!

Look at that weather for Wednesday! Brrr!

3. What thoughts keep you awake at night?

Grrr… a lot of things keep me awake at night! My mind tends to race at the most inopportune times. It’s not all bad thoughts, though. Sometimes I think about happy things! I kind of suck at getting enough sleep.

Yeah pretty much…

4. What conversations do you avoid?

All of them, if I can! I’m highly antisocial 😉 If I like you, you’ll know it, because I will talk!

Please don’t make me socialize! 😉

5. If you were invisible for a week, what would you do?

Probably a bunch of slightly evil things! Mostly I think I’d just freak people out so they think a ghost is near them. Things like walk by and tap them on the shoulder, make stuff look like it’s floating in the air, whisper in their ears, you know… ghostly stuff. Then I’d go to restaurants and grab a bunch of freshly cooked french fries- don’t worry, I’d leave some money on the counter so I wouldn’t be STEALING. Am I a horrible person for wanting to mess with people? Yeah, maybe. It’s all in good fun though!

Only relevant because of the word “invisible,” but the cat is too cute!

6. What’s the oddest thing you’ve ever seen? (Things on the internet don’t count)

Hmmm… there’s a couple things that could be in the running for this. I’m gonna go with the time I was at work in the back office and I happened to look out the window. I saw a man in a motorized scooter with a lawn chair and an American flag strapped to the back going slowly down the road… right into oncoming traffic. Cars literally had to swerve around him because he was just… in the middle of the road.

Pretty sure he wasn’t delivering pizzas!

7. If you could live the life of any character in a novel, who would it be?

Um, I don’t know. I read a lot of horror novels, and I’d kind of hate to have most of those characters’ lives!

8). When do you feel most alive?

Most of the time I drag my ass around like a zombie, but I feel alive when I’m doing something I consider fun- whether that be video games, writing, hanging out with my husband/ animals/ family, etc. Life is meant to be enjoyed, and I feel like sometimes I don’t get to do that 100% because stupid shit like work, poor health, and crappy situations get in the way! I don’t really need an adrenaline rush to feel alive- I just want to do something that makes me happy 🙂

Ah yes… I also feel alive when I sleep a lot like Snorlax!

9. You can have a penfriend from any time in history, who would it be? What kind of letters would you write?

Although writing to someone from the past would be cool, I would want to talk to someone from the future! Say 1000 years from now… so 3018. They would tell me all about what technology was like, how much the world has changed and what I could do in my time period to improve life! That is, if computers/ robots/ whatever haven’t taken over the world by then… Did I answer this question right? Who cares, this is my blog!

I do love receiving snail mail 😉

10. Do you ever feel like you haven’t a clue what you’re doing and you’re about to be found out? What makes you feel like that?

Um, yeah, I pretty much always feel like that! I’m one of those “fake it til you make it” type people who can bullshit my way out of tight spots. Also, despite being in my 30s, I sometimes have a hard time believing I am an adult. I had a moment like that on Christmas… my cousin’s daughter asked me to cut a tag off of her toy, and I was like damn… I’m the responsible one here. As for what makes me feel like that, who knows! I just roll with it.

Me, most of the time.

11. Would you like your home country to introduce basic income (everybody gets paid enough to live on whether they work or not)? How would it change your life?

Hmm, the last question is a serious one! I am not going to get all philosophical or preachy here, but the bottom line is this: everyone deserves to have basic comforts. We are all human, and one person is not more deserving than another. Namaste, bitches!

Oh my god… I just made this entire blog post and I realized something. I answered the wrong fucking set of questions! The Shameful Narcissist wrote out 11 questions, and I accidentally answered the questions another blogger asked her! SHIT! Well… I think I will still answer her questions in another post later on, since I made this one all pretty and spent time on it. Oops!

Well, I hope everyone has a safe and Happy New Year. See you in 2018!

Other Random Shopping Goodies!

A few months ago, I picked up a couple cute things at Walgreens and at Target that I’ve been wanting to share!

First of all, at Walgreens I found this amazing Chain Chomp plush!

I love Chain Chomps, and there aren’t too many Chain Chomp items out there, so I was excited to pick this up!

At Target, they had a Timmy & Tommy amiibo on clearance.

I couldn’t resist them! They are super cute, especially in person.

Lastly, I found this interesting card game (also at Target):

I’ve never played a Super Mario Bros. card game before, so I’ll be interested to see how fun it is. I’m pretty easy to please though, so I’m sure I’ll have fun with it no matter what! 😉

Snorlax + Pikachu= Awesome!

Way back in July after my birthday, I was trying to figure out what to spend my Amazon gift card on. As a browsed vast Amazon storefront, I came across something that was way too cute to pass up: a little group of figures consisting of one Snorlax and a bunch of Pikachus. Apparently it’s some sort of balancing game where you try to see how many Pikachus you can balance on the Snorlax before they all fall off. Because I am a sucker  for cute things, this is what I purchased!

Check out the box:

Here is Snorlax, in all his snoozing glory:

Here is the stand he goes on, so he can sleep easy:

Here are all the sweet little Pikachus!

And here is the whole thing set up:

As you can tell, this set is rather small, and it was $22! I’m glad I had a gift card to be able to buy it, because the price is a bit steep considering how small it is. But this is so adorable to have on my desk, and I’m glad I got it anyway 🙂

P.S. It is a little difficult to balance the Pikachus on the Snorlax… much easier to have the Pikachus just laying around the Snorlax instead!

First Impressions: Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp!

Before I say anything else, if you have this game and want to add me as a friend, here is my friend ID. The more the merrier!

I have been waiting impatiently for the chance to play Animal Crossing on my phone for quite some time now! When the Nintendo Direct officially announced Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp in October, I couldn’t wait! The release date was vague- “late November” was all it said! Ugh! Even though our friends in Australia were able to play right away, I decided to be patient and hold out for when it was released in the U.S.

To tide us over, they had a little mini-game called Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp Friend Finder, which was played in your browser. Katrina the fortune teller paired you up with an animal friend and tasked you with finding different missing items in four different locations. Once all the items in a location were found, you were able to save a picture of the location to use as a wallpaper on your phone! Pretty cute little distraction. I managed to find all the missing items- here’s my wallpapers, featuring my friend Rosie!

After that, an official release date was given- November 22nd! Woo hoo! But can you believe those sneaky bastards released the game a day early?! My friend and fellow Animal Crossing addict texted me at 7:30 a.m. telling me “It’s out today I’m downloading it now.” Of course, I downloaded it IMMEDIATELY, but then had to trudge off to work, so I couldn’t play all day. 😦 When I finally got home, ate dinner, and cleaned up, it was time to play! So what were my first impressions of Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp? Let’s find out!

The moment the title screen popped up, I was so happy! I never imagined being able to play a game from a franchise so beloved to me on my phone!! I couldn’t wait to get started.

I got a greeting from K.K. Slider, who I hope to see again soon!

I then made my character. She is adorable! 😉

I met up with Isabelle, who introduced me to the basics of the game and asked what kind of campsite theme I liked the most. I chose the natural theme, because I felt like that fit the idea of having a “pocket camp” the most. Plus, Goldie is a fan of the theme, and she is so cute!

There is a map you can open up on the bottom part of your screen, and this allows you to go to many different locations! I went to Breezy Hollow first, because Goldie was there and she needed a favor!

Look how cute she is, warming up a pot over the fire!

I completed a couple simple tasks for her, and I got some Bells as well as some crafting materials. These materials are used to make furniture and other items. So cool!

Here’s a couple other screenshots of my time in Breezy Hollow!

Apparently, the more you talk to, interact with, and complete requests for the villagers (are they still called villagers in this game? Or are they referred to as campers?) you can level up your friendships with them as well. You can bet I will try to be best friends with every damn one of them! 😉

Back at my campsite, Isabelle set up a few pieces of furniture she thought I would like. Thanks, Isabelle! That’s a great start!

I also met Reese and Cyrus and crafted my first piece of furniture.

Once you place certain items of furniture down, it will attract certain animals to your site. Goldie was the first one to come check my place out!

I then traveled to another area, where I did some fishing and met up with Filbert.

I also found a random human traveler, which was neat! I think it will be fun to meet up with different people.

Besides your campsite, you also have an RV that you can decorate and paint!

One last thing I did before ending my game for the day was meet up with the three bad ass birds who are in charge of customizing your RV!

I didn’t hesitate to paint mine black and red 😉

After returning to my campsite, I invited Filbert over for a visit, then called it quits for the night!

Words cannot explain how much I love this game already! I am so excited and happy that there is now a mobile Animal Crossing game for us all to enjoy. You can spend a lot of time playing if you want, but you don’t really need to. This is a game you can easily spend 5 or 10 minutes here and there to do a couple things throughout the day without having to spend a lot of time on it. I love the fact that there are so many customization options, and the possibilities seem endless at this point! I’m really looking forward to seeing where this game will go!

P.S. I’ll post updated screenshots of my camp at a later date. I’ve made quite a bit of progress since the game’s release: I’ve already invited several animals to my site, built several amenities and furniture pieces, etc. Right now there is a Christmas event going on so I’m trying to collect all the furniture for that! 🙂
