(Sort of) Liebster Award… 2nd Attempt!

A little while ago, I wrote about how my friend The Shameful Narcissist posted some questions after receiving a Liebster Award, and she invited everyone to answer the questions! I happily answered them and after I completed the whole damn post, released I had answered the wrong set of questions! πŸ˜‰ Here’s the post where I answered all the wrong ones. So now, I’m going to attempt to answer HER questions… let’s see if I can do it right this time! πŸ˜‰

1. When you read, do you visualize characters and settings? As in, do the words create images in your mind?

Most definitely! That’s what I love about reading. I have a pretty vivid imagination even as an adult, so I immediately take the words and form pictures in my mind. That’s probably why I get mad when I read a book and I’ve visualized characters and settings in a certain way, and then I see the movie version and it just doesn’t compare to what I see in my mind!

Like SpongeBob, I have a big imagination! πŸ˜‰

2. What’s your favorite kind of tea?

Well, I really love iced tea, especially lemon iced tea! I have a few different brands I like but Pure Leaf is amazing. I could drink that all day, every day and not get sick of it. I also love Arnold Palmers, which is a half iced tea/ half lemonade blend. I enjoy hot tea as well, especially Celestial Seasonings Sleepy Time Tea. I have to be careful with herbal teas though, because a lot of them make my heart race and that’s no fun.

Iced tea. Yep.

3. What’s the best game you’ve played or watched this year so far?

2018 is still quite young, but I have tried out a few new games so far this year! This answer may come as a surprise, but so far the game I have loved the most that I first played this year would have to be Thumper for the PlayStation VR. To me, it is amazing and though it is perfectly playable without VR, I can’t imagine doing so. Being immersed in that game with your headphones on and that intimidating, anxiety- inducing music is just an incredible experience!

Just looking at this image makes me want to play the game!

As far as games I’ve watched… I actually haven’t watched any this year so far! Weird, considering I do love watching people play games. I just haven’t had time to do so 😦

4. What’s the best book you’ve read this year so far?

Again, since 2018 is young, I haven’t read many books yet. Even so, I really have enjoyed Fluidus Rising and Mirror Sacrifice by the very talented Margo Ryerkerk! I did small reviews of both of these books here on my blog, so check them out if you’re interested! Her next book is supposed to come out soon, and I really can’t wait!

Awesome series!

5. Do you prefer to watch a show one episode at a time or binge watch?

Most of the time, I prefer one at a time… makes the show last longer and gives me something to look forward to! However, there are a couple shows I just can’t do that with and I prefer to binge watch… Stranger Things, 12 Monkeys, etc.!

So ready for this show to come back on, even though it’ll be the last season 😦

6. Do you prefer “people” names for pets or “non-people” names?

I don’t really care what other people do, but in general I like to name my pets “non-people” names. Naming your pets something fun and weird is part of the fun of owning an animal! πŸ˜‰ Note that I do have a turtle named Bob, which is a “people” name… my aunt and uncle actually gave him to me as a Christmas present 20 years ago, and they called him Bob because he bobbed his head up and down in the water. The name just stuck for me, so I didn’t want to change it!

My sweet old man, who is currently shedding :/

7. What would you change your eye color to if you could?

You know, I’m quite happy with the color of my eyes, so I wouldn’t necessarily change them! They are dark blue and they occasionally look gray… though if I’m wearing a blue shirt, they’ll look a little lighter πŸ™‚

8. Do you tan or burn?

I am really pale so man, do I burn 😦 I often joke that if I just look at the sun, I’ll start burning, which is why I am a goth LOL. In reality, I do enjoy being in the sun, but I just make sure I wear a high SPF sunscreen and always reapply!

My skin is almost this dramatic… seriously!

9. What’s your fictional/ fantasy job, as in, what would your job be if you lived in a fictional/ fantasy world?

Hmmm…. this is a tough one! So many cool choices! If I had to choose, I would say it’d be neat to be some sort of mercenary that goes after all the rotten assholes of the world… someone who takes them out and looks really cool doing it, then goes home and cuddles puppies afterwards!

I typed in “cuddly mercenary” and this popped up.

10. What’s your favorite dystopian city?

I’m gonna go with an odd choice here and say New New York from theΒ  TV show Futurama! It may not be the first place that comes to mind when you think of “dystopian” but to me it still qualifies. It’s a dysfunctional, futuristic society that might still be all right to live in. Most other dystopian cities from novels and movies that I’m familiar with aren’t exactly fun places to be. In New New York, you never know what you’re gonna get! πŸ˜‰

Bender is such an asshole, I love him!Β

11. How close is your blogger persona to your IRL one?

This is pretty much me! I try to write my blog posts in a very casual way, as if I were actually speaking to you in a real life conversation. What you see is what you get- I don’t see a point in it being any other way! After all, I’m not trying to impress anyone here πŸ™‚

Well, there you have it! I successfully answered the correct questions from The Shameful Narcissist! It is always fun doing posts like this. I have a couple other blogging awards I need to get to as well, so hopefully I’ll get those published soon!

  1. Reading is literally looking at pieces of dead trees while hallucinating vividly lol. I remember seeing that meme somewhere and cackling like a fool.

Oh no herbal tea, too?? D: That stinks. I’m usually okay with them since they’re usually caffeine free, but then chocolate will sometimes cause me problems, because it has caffeine (?) in it, too. God forbid I drink coffee AND eat chocolate, and a mint fudge brownie literally put me in the hospital, er, a few days later because I’m stubborn and didn’t go to the doctor until Monday.

I try to watch one episode at a time, but if I’m REALLY into a show, I’ll just keep going. I started watching BoJack Horseman this weekend, and I watch at least two episodes of day, because it’s so freaking good.

I once saw Basset Hound/beagle mixes at an SPCA event, and if I’d adopted one, I would’ve named him or her “Bobby,” because they looked “Bobbies.” So adorable.

I don’t burn (hooray melanin!), but I will break out if I’m in the sun too long without protection. I get these itchy bumps, which apparently means I have a sun allergy *headdesk* Like I’m literally allergic to the giant ball of burning gas that our planet orbits around and which makes life possible. People gasp and laugh when I say how much I hate it lol, but it’s why I’m a Goth, too :p Oh, and my eyes are super light sensitive and it hurts them.

I never really thought of NNY at dystopian from Futurama, but yeah, I have to agree! With all of the shenanigans going on, it would be so kooky and exciting to live there because you never know what’s going to happen next. Futurama is one of our go-to shows. We’ve probably watched the entire series all the way through at least five times now. It’s one of those shows that just never gets old, and I like how they ended it.

    Great answers! β™₯

    1. Haha! That is the best description of reading I’ve ever heard. I’ll have to remember that!! πŸ˜‰

Yeah I’ve tried a couple different herbal teas and they tend to give me the jitters…. it’s so annoying! I seem to be okay with black teas, so I just stick with one or two different kinds that I know don’t bother me.

I’ve seen BoJack Horseman on Netflix, but I had no idea what the hell it was lol!! What is it about??

Aww I know what you mean, I get kind of itchy if I’m out in the sun too long too! It’s really aggravating. And my coworkers have laughed at me for wearing sunglasses when it’s cloudy out, but like you, my eyes are really sensitive 😦

Futurama is always a great choice! πŸ™‚ I think we’ve seen most of the episodes multiple times too, and I laugh just as much every time πŸ˜‰

      1. I can’t take credit for that one. It’s from tumblr lol.

That’s so interesting because I didn’t think herbal teas had caffeine. There may be something else in them that causes it.

Omg, so you think it’s going to be this ridiculous, silly comedy about talking animals, and instead it’s this spectacular deep dive into the nature of depression, nihilism, and existential crises. I was absolutely floored. The script is well written, the voice acting is spectacular, the character interactions are realistic,, all of the characters are complex and flawed, and it’s honestly more “real” than many live action shows. It’s like cartoons are able to show the absurdity of reality much easier due to their medium, and that makes them able to show how true the absurdity of reality really is! I’d give it a try if you have Netflix. I had a friend bugging me about it for at least a year and I’m glad I finally got around to doing it. Now I’m finished with the fourth season so I need to figure out what I’m going to watch next D:

Even when it’s cloudy, the sun can be really bright! Like I’m just sitting here in front of my computer, and my eyes hurt. It stinks to have both skin AND eyes be super sensitive, aaaaand I’m just emotionally sensitive, too. I’m like a big ball of fluff lol.

We spent pretty much the entire day watching it lol. It’s one of the few shows I could just watch straight through and then immediately rewatch again.

    1. Thank you! πŸ™‚ And yes, if you like fantasy type books, I think you will enjoy the Ardere series!! I have just received the 3rd book to review, and I’m really excited!
