My Animal Crossing Memories!

One of the first friends I ever made here on the wonderful WordPress community, Yvonne, has been doing a series on her blog called Animal Crossing Memories. In the series, a blogger writes about the various memories they have with Animal Crossing, and the entries are quite charming to read! Recently, Yvonne contacted me and asked if I wanted to write my own post about it and be featured on her site, and I thought that was very sweet of her to consider me! You can find my entry on her blog here, or just keep reading! 🙂

(Of course, the first paragraph is just a little into about me for Yvonne’s readers who don’t know me, so feel free to skip past that if you want!)

Hey everyone! My name is Brandi. I’ve been a gamer for as long as I can remember, and I enjoy many different types of games. I’ve always had a soft spot in my heart for Nintendo games, but I have love for all platforms! A couple years ago, I decided to combine my love of gaming with my love of writing, and I started a blog. That’s how I met Yvonne!

Recently, Yvonne contacted me and asked if I wanted to be featured on her wonderful site, writing about some of my Animal Crossing memories! I thought that was very sweet of her to consider me, so here I am! 🙂

My obsession with Animal Crossing started when I saw it featured in Nintendo Power as an upcoming title for the GameCube. I was instantly intrigued, because the idea of living in a little village populated with only animals and no pesky humans sounded like a great escape to me!

I got the game the day it was released in North America. I remember that day, too- I was 16 years old, and my mom and I had taken my dog to get surgery done on her leg. While we were waiting, we popped over to Target and bought a few things, Animal Crossing being one of them! The second I booted the game up and K.K. Slider began playing his guitar for me, I knew I was in for something unique.

I put SO MANY hours into the GameCube version of Animal Crossing over the years! Every day was something different. I loved how the villagers acted, I loved how it was all played in real time, I loved the music that played every hour… never before had a game captured my heart in the way this game did. I thought it was such an amazing concept. Also, the holidays were so much fun to play!

I also really appreciated the fact that the seasons changed. Considering I live in a state in the USA where we don’t exactly have four defined seasons, it was nice to experience something different- especially the snow! 🙂

As the years went by, I continued to purchase and play every subsequent version of Animal Crossing that came out. Wild World, City Folk, New Leaf, Happy Home Designer, Welcome amiibo, Wild World (Wii U Virtual Console), New Leaf: Welcome amiibo… I have them all! I also obtained a version of Doubutsu no Mori for the Nintendo 64 a couple years back, and I love playing that as well (even if my Japanese isn’t very good). I have Doubutsu no Mori + and Doubutsu no Mori e+ for the GameCube as well- I just need to convert my spare GameCube into a Japanese GameCube so I can play! I also play Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp for the iPhone (though I refuse to partake in microtransactions- I just enjoy the game casually!).

acgames1

When it comes down to it, I guess you can say I’m probably a little obsessed with Animal Crossing. I don’t mind one bit! I do wish I had more time to check in on all my villagers in my various towns, though- but such is life. I know whenever I get the chance to, they’ll be there waiting for me, happy as ever to see me!

Thank you so much for taking the time to read my Animal Crossing memories!

My Animal Crossing Collection Part 2: Toys!

In the first part of my Animal Crossing Collection post, I showed you all of my games and strategy guides. This time, I’ll show you my various “toys” (which is basically just a collection of figures and a plushie). Enjoy! 🙂

First up, I have two little figurines that I hold near and dear to my heart. Many years ago for Christmas, my husband made me clay sculptures of two of my favorite Animal Crossing characters, Octavian and Rhoda! Annoyingly, Octavian is now missing a couple legs and Rhoda is missing a leg too, which is very sad! I blame it on moving, as the figures are pretty delicate. Taking a picture of them doesn’t really do them justice, either: the detail is so amazing in person! (Also, my lighting sucks…. Octavian is a deeper red and Rhoda is a deeper blue than these pictures show)

Next, I have a small collection of amiibo. Here’s what’s funny about me: I LOVE Animal Crossing… but I didn’t have much desire to collect all of these amiibo. They aren’t cheap ya know! 😉 So I decided that I would only purchase the amiibo that I REALLY wanted, instead of getting them all just for collection’s sake. A couple of these amiibo I got really cheap, and a couple I received as gifts 🙂

Lastly, I have one lonely little Animal Crossing plushie, which I’ve shown on here before. I still don’t know if he’s Timmy or Tommy!

ttplush

Here’s my whole collection:

So there you have it! Not a ton to show, but I still like what I have. For the final Animal Crossing Collection post, I’ll show everything else Animal Crossing- related that I have 🙂

My Gaming Week in Review (2/05- 2/11)!

Console

NES

Yesterday, my in-laws came over for dinner and we were going to play a board game afterwards, but it was too hard for my mother-in-law to sit up and play one at the table. My husband surprised us all by bringing out Anticipation, a Trivial Pursuit type game made by Rare way back in 1988!

anticipationtitlescreen

Michael and his parents used to play this game a lot when he was a kid, so it was a blast from the past for everyone! I myself did not play this game until Michael and I met 14 years ago, but it’s a fun game that I still enjoy playing from time to time.

We decided to play in teams; Michael and I on one team, his parents on the other. His mom was actually doing pretty good! Like I said, this game is similar to Trivial Pursuit. Your game piece moves along the board, and you land on a colored square. Each square has a different category. Some of the clues are pretty easy:

whatletter

While others are extremely vague. None of us figured out what this was:

whattoolisthis

The goal of the game is to collect one square of each color in each of the three levels. Whoever passes all three levels first is the winner!

anticipationboard

It was a close game, but Michael and I ended up winning. It was fun! It was nice to see my mother-in-law having some fun, since she hasn’t been feeling well lately. Anyway, playing this game made me really happy and I want to play it again soon!

P.S. Sorry for the glare that is present in all the above photos. From where I was sitting, it was hard to get a good picture!

GameCube

I visited my little Animal Crossing village of Branvil this week for the first time in 5 months. The first thing I noticed when I started up the game was that it was snowing, yay!! I think the snow is one of my favorite parts of the game, especially since I never get to see any in real life!

yayforsnow

Sydney moved away, which was a bummer. She’s a cutie!

sydneymoved

Maple acted like she didn’t know me.

mapleforgotme

And Wart Jr. made me laugh with his crazy comment. Apparently I’m a real shady character…

shadywart

And just like always, Queenie was a big BITCH to me! Why doesn’t she move the fuck away already!

queeniesucks

I met my new neighbor, Buzz. He’s pretty handsome, I think!

meetbuzz

He has kind of a weird house, though.

buzzshouse

I found a snowball hiding in the flowers, which was kinda strange.

After saying hello to everyone, I spent the rest of my evening pulling weeds and shaking trees! I deposited some money in my bank account, too. I wish it was this easy to make money in real life!

Wii U

As I mentioned in my last post, my husband and I finished our playthrough of Yoshi’s Woolly World this week! What a great game it was. Since I’m going to do a separate blog post about finishing the game, I’ll leave you with a screenshot of an oddly-titled level we played!

Nintendo DS

I played just one level of The Legendary Starfy this week. Apparently the Hot-Spring Snapper (a really rude rock/ turtle thing) was terrorizing Hotcha Springs, and it was up to Starfy to stop him!

everyonepanic

I had to outrun lava, which was super. It moved kinda slow, but I still almost died trying to take this picture!

dontgetburned

The battle against the Snapper wasn’t too bad. I couldn’t get a decent picture of him to save my life, because he wouldn’t stay still!

stupidrockturtle

I am now on Level 3-1 Chillydip Cove: Snow Starfy. This should be fun!

Mobile

iPhone

I played some more Cooking Fever this week.  I’m still working on leveling up my Fast Food Court. It not really as bad as I thought it was going to be grind-wise- I find I can upgrade my stuff after playing one or two levels and getting some coins from them. I just don’t upgrade anymore when the upgrade requires gems, because I feel like I need to save my gems to unlock other places. Here are my current stats:

currentstats

I am currently on Level 36 of the Fast Food Court. Only a few more levels until I am finished!

level36

I also played more Pokémon GO. I was very happy to catch a Growlithe- so cute!

I evolved my Ekans into an Arbok.

I also evolved my Exeggcute into an Exeggutor. Finally! Seems like that took forever.

I also played a game called Strike! Ten Pin Bowling. It’s a simple bowling game that both my aunt and my mom played awhile back- I don’t know if they still do or not! Anyway, it’s a fun, free little game that is a great way to pass a couple minutes.

startbowling

For some reason, though, the game erased all my previous high scores! That annoyed me a little bit. Oh well, not like I’m very good at it anyway!

isuckatbowling

I played some Solitaire this week too, and it seems I’m back on my losing streak.

suckingatsolitaire

PC

Steam

Finally played some Stardew Valley this week! I haven’t played this game for a couple weeks, and I missed it! 🙂 Anyway, I continued clearing out my farm, and I came across this tiny, cute tree!

cuteliltree

I ran into Haley, who was a bitch as always.

yousuckhailey

I finally figured out how to fish!

learningtofish

It’s really fun. I only managed to catch one fish and everything else I caught was trash, but it’s all good. I need to catch more fish, because I am broke!

One of my current objectives is to build a coop. With how expensive it is and how many resources I need, it’ll take me awhile!

One night when I went to sleep, a fairy came and made one of my crops grow. I don’t know what that’s all about, but thanks, little fairy!

helpfulfairy

I also grew to Level 1 Farming.

level1farming

On the 10th of Spring, Year 1, I had a nice surprise when I woke up and was greeted by a friendly dog!

straydog

Marnie explained to me that he was a stray and asked if I wanted to adopt him! BUT OF COURSE I DO! 😉

talktomarnie

I named him Wicky as an homage to a disabled dog that I worked with who has been gone for almost 2 years now. His name was Nykon, but his nickname was Wicky! He was near and dear to my heart and I loved him so much.

namedthedogwicky

While continuing to clear out my farm, I found a geode. When I took it to the blacksmith, it was some rare mineral or something, and it was advised that I donate it to the museum!

donatecelestine

I didn’t even realize it, but when I donated it, I completed an objective in my journal, so I got a nice little reward for it!

archeologyjournalentry

I then grew to Level 1 Foraging.

level1foraging

I am currently on 11th of Spring, Year 1. This game is becoming addicting!

Misc.

While my husband was out and about earlier this week, he came across some VR (virtual reality) headsets for only $6! They are compatible with both of our phones, so he bought one for each of us. I’m going to do a separate write up on this, but here’s a pic of the headset:

So, looks like I was able to do a lot more gaming this week! That’s always a good thing. Thanks for reading!

Welcome Amiibo Cards!

I was at work yesterday and got really excited when these came in the mail for me!

acnlwa1

My boss was walking around with the package just talking to me without really looking at it, so finally I interjected and was like “Um, I think that’s mine, I’ve been waiting for something!” Haha! 😉 Anyway, I ordered these Animal Crossing New Leaf: Welcome amiibo cards off of Amazon, and I’m glad I did! They had a purchase limit of 3, I guess because they don’t have large quantities of cards. Here’s what I got:

First set:

acnlwa2

Second set:

acnlwa3

Third set:

acnlwa4

So I think I got some really good cards! I was really excited about Sprocket, he always amused me! I like Hornsby and Wade as well. I’m glad I didn’t get any doubles either- unless you count Huck, but he came with my game.

So, just wanted to share my new cards! This will probably be my last post of the year, since tomorrow is New Year’s Eve and I’ll be hanging out with my family. Same goes for New Year’s Day! So hope everyone has a safe and happy New Year’s, and I’ll see you in 2017! 😉

Catching Up With Animal Crossing: Wild World (VC)!

As you can probably imagine, I’ve been playing quite a bit of Animal Crossing: Wild World (VC). Even though the game is 11 years old, it feels brand new on the Virtual Console! Anyway, here’s what’s been happening in my town the past couple weeks…

The first new villager I had moved in on my side of the map that I wanted to keep all to myself! Ugh! But when I saw who it was, I was happy!

meetpuddles

Puddles is too cute! I had her in my Animal Crossing GCN town briefly.  Here she is cheering me on after I caught a fish! I hope Puddles stays around, even though the location of her house is a bit too close to mine.

cutepuddlescheer

After that, Kid Cat moved in. He’s cute too!

meetkidcat

However, the next time I looked at my map, I couldn’t BELIEVE my bad luck!

ugghnotqueenie

Noooo! Not fucking Queenie! She is SO RUDE in my GameCube and  City Folk towns! She’s on my side of the map too, which is annoying because I don’t want to be close to her! Well, maybe she’ll be nice in this one….

meetqueenie

I decided that since it’s about to be winter time, I’d dress for the occasion!

winterlook

Next, Gwen moved in. She’s a little cutie! I do love all the penguin characters.

meetgwen

I paid off my first home loan…

paidoffloan

But not like it matters, because I went right back into debt!

When I played earlier this week, I was surprised to find that my town actually had a dense fog covering it! I could barely make out anything in the background. In all my years of playing Animal Crossing games, I have never seen anything like this before!

foggynight

I then checked my town map and discovered my 8th villager had moved in…

yaymarina

And I got so excited! Marina is so adorable, and I have been wanting her in one of my towns for a long time. She seems so sweet!

meetmarina

Meanwhile, Queenie already showed her ass, so now I don’t like her in this town either!

queeniesucks

I also noticed that Gwen had landscaped her house beautifully! I know villagers will sometimes randomly do this, but it was still really nice to see.

gwensgarden

Puddles asked me for some red furniture, and I happened to have a red bed in my pockets! I handed it over to her right away, and she was so happy.

puddlesredbed1

The next day when I visited her, I noticed it was set up in her house. Yay!

puddlesredbed2

And here’s one last photo of Marina being adorable:

So that’s what’s been happening in Satanica lately! 😉 My next blog entry will probably be about the Pokémon I’ve caught recently in Pokémon GO. See ya!

First Impressions: Animal Crossing: Wild World (VC)!

Finally, after weeks of packing, moving, unpacking, organizing, blah blah blah, my house is starting to look like a house and not a war zone! There is still a lot of work to be done, but we are coming along nicely! My office contents are still all boxed up for the most part though, as we are getting ready to paint in there. This means that most of my video games are still packed away, because I don’t want to set everything up only to move everything around again to paint! I did, however, unearth my 3DS and my Wii U! (Too bad all of my Wii U games are still packed up, but whatever) I was happy when I found out that Animal Crossing: Wild World was released on the Wii U Virtual Console a few weeks back! I have been waiting for this game to come out ever since it was released in Europe almost a year ago, I believe. I was so busy moving, the release snuck right by me until I read about it on Jeff’s Animal Crossing: New Leaf Blog. Since I just set my Wii U up in the living room, I decided to download it!!

yayacwwvc
Sooooo exciting!!

I was so excited to see the screen load… even though it looked a little different than I had imagined. The “DS” screens are pretty damn small on my tv, so I had to look down at the gamepad to see what I was doing! Even then, it was a little hard to see.

wiiuacwwscreen
Well this is… different.

Anyway, I met Kapp’n in his cab, and I answered a few basic questions for him.

Soon, I arrived in my new town, Satanica!

arrivedinsatanica
Home sweet home!

I LOVE my town’s set up! All of the shops and city buildings are on the left side of the map, while my house is nestled away all by itself on the right side. It’s like I have my own little private sanctuary near the beach, which is something I wish for in real life! 😉 I’m sure it’s only a matter of time before a villager moves in near me, but I’ll enjoy it while it lasts.

satanicatownmap
Love my town map!

I got a good look at my character for the first time. She’s kinda cute, though her hairstyle is gonna have to change, haha!

brandiinsatanica
Well, she has blue eyes like I do in real life!

I barely had time to enjoy my new digs before Tom Nook came to pester me about paying him. Check out my thrilled expression!

goawaynook
Uggh, can I just enjoy my new town for 5 MINUTES please!

Of course, Tom Nook wanted me to work for him to pay off some of my debt. After planting some trees and flowers, I met my 3 new neighbors: Nan, Apollo, and Filbert. I also introduced myself to the mayor, Tortimer.

So, I was enjoying the game, but honestly, the screen was bugging me a little bit. I was a little disappointed that everything looked so tiny. Then I realized… you can change the screen settings! DUH! I’m so dense! To be fair, this is my first DS game on Virtual Console, so I wasn’t aware of the settings! 😉 Anyway, I played around with them for a few minutes, but ultimately, I like it set up this way:

thanksnan

So the top screen is small and on the left side, and the bottom screen is the main focus on the right side. Not much goes on on the top screen in this game, so this is the perfect set up. As a side note, it’s kind of a bummer that everything is right handed. I’m a lefty, so it’s nice when there’s an extra setting to accommodate my awkwardness! I’m totally used to it, though, so it’s not too big of a deal.

Moving on! I wanted to finish my jobs for Nook, because he was starting to get an attitude with me!

whatanass
Wow, thanks douche!

After a few more quick tasks, I was done! If only it was this easy in real life.

donewithwork
I wish…

Once I was done working, I immediately shook a few trees to gather some cherries, sold them to Nook, and bought the net and fishing rod he had in his shop! There better be a damn shovel for sale tomorrow.

buyingtools

Since it is Saturday, I figured K.K. Slider would be performing, but nope! He was nowhere to be found! Maybe because I just started the game, he wasn’t there. Who knows.

whereiskk
Aww. an empty stage… how sad!

However, despite this being the first day of me playing, the game announced that the Flea Market was happening today. As I entered my house to place my hammock that Nan had given me, Apollo busted in and tried to buy each of the four measly pieces of furniture I had! No way buddy!

noyoucanthaveit
That’s my only light source right now…. so no, you can’t have it!

After that, I walked along the beach, picking up shells and catching fish. I then ended my game for the night!

caughtacarp
My first fish!

Conclusion:

I was so happy to see this game come out on Virtual Console. Even though I own (and still actively play) the DS version, it’s still really cool to see this game on the big screen. The game seems to have ported over quite nicely, and I’m sure I’m going to be enjoying it for a long time!

My Gaming Week In Review (9/04- 9/10)!

Console

Nintendo 64

I finally revisited my Doubutsu no Mori town of Weezey- it’s been a couple months since I’ve played! Checking the bulletin board, I realized that there were fireworks every Saturday in August, and I missed them all! Bummer! A second notice on the board told me that there is a full moon (the harvest moon?) visible on 9/15, so I’ll have to try to remember to play.

It was pretty late when I played, so most of my animal friends were already asleep.

Since there wasn’t too much going on so late at night (or early in the morning, depending on how you look at it) I just walked around picking weeds and digging up stuff! I dug up some furniture, but when I placed it in my house…

stupiddoubleitems

It was two of the same item! How dumb!

While walking through town, I noticed a house I hadn’t seen before. The sign told me it belonged to Garigari (Nibbles in North America). She was already asleep though, so I decided to visit her the next day!

garigarishouse

The next day starting the game, there was a nice, steady rain. I had never bought an umbrella, so I went to the store and bought one. All they had was a red one with white polka dots, which isn’t really my favorite. It’ll do for now, though. While walking around, I noticed that TWO of my neigbors had the same umbrella! I guess it’s a popular style!

I then went and met GariGari. She is a little silly looking, but cute! The inside of her house was an eclectic mix of themes.

I also dug up 30,000 Bells, which was pretty awesome!

Nintendo GameCube

I also showed some love to my Animal Crossing town of Branvil this week. I haven’t visited there in a couple months, oops! Oddly enough, it was raining in this game as well.

rainrain

I got a very rude letter from my mom!

rudemother

What the hell! Anyway, after squashing roaches in my house, I traveled to Nookington’s, where I discovered the same umbrella I had just bought in Doubutsu no Mori for sale there as well! Too weird. I didn’t buy it, though, as I like my current flame umbrella much better 😉

samedamnumbrella

I then walked around and said hello to a few of my villagers who were still awake (they seem to go to bed much earlier in this game!). I also paused to watch Octavian stare at a fish in the pond, which was so cute! I woke up Gulliver, too, which took forever! He gave me a Mannekin Pis, yippee!

Besides that, I just walked around, pulled weeds and enjoyed the rain!

Nintendo Wii

I also showed a little bit of attention to my Animal Crossing: City Folk town of Spookie this week… and yep, it was raining there, too!

rainyspookieday

I knew I didn’t have a whole lot of time to play, but I still said hello to the villagers I ran into. Nan in particular seemed happy to see me!

nanhappy

I was so tired of my bedhead, so I stopped by Shampoodle for a new hairstyle. I was surprised when Harriet told me I would look good with a boy’s hairstyle, and she wanted to know if I wanted one! I hesitated for a moment, then decided to go for it! The result was very different… but I don’t mind it! 🙂

Lastly, I stopped by GracieGrace to see all the furniture I can’t afford! I really loved the cool psychedelic umbrella I found in there. It was only 3400 Bells, so I bought it! I also bought a new outfit at the Able Sisters, just to give the witch outfit I had been wearing for like 3 years a rest 😉

I visited my Animal Crossing: Wild World town of Booland this week as well- and came across something TERRIBLE!

stitchesmoving1

Stitches was all packed up and ready to move out! OH NO YOU DON’T! I cannot bear to think of Stitches moving away from me! I must’ve talked to him like 100 times, trying to convince him to stay.

Finally, just when I thought I wasn’t going to be able to convince him otherwise, he acted like he was leaning toward staying. Whew!

I also visited my other neighbors, who provided me with entertainment as usual! Sometimes they say the silliest things!

The next day, I had to play again to see if Stitches decided to stay in Booland or not. I was a little nervous, but once the title screen loaded, I was happy to see him walking around! Yay! I still played and talked to him, and he made no mention of moving. Stitches will remain in Booland for awhile longer! 🙂

I played a little bit of Crossy Road this week, which I haven’t played in awhile. I played several times, and I unlocked three characters, which were Epoch:

Pudding (wtf?):

and Capybara:

This is such a fun little game! It’s just perfect for when you have a couple minutes to pass, and I love unlocking new, weird characters!

I also caught several new Pokémon in Pokémon GO this week! They were Goldeen:

Zubat:

Clefairy:

Rhyhorn:

Nidoran:

and Caterpie:

I also hatched 3 eggs this week, which gave me a Spearow, a Geodude, and a Caterpie!

I also accidentally entered a Gym and started a battle. Needless to say, I got my ass handed to me. I knew none of my Pokémon were strong enough, but I didn’t know what I was doing! I need to read up on Gyms more before I start messing around in them.

shittygymbattle

Finally, I leveled up to Level 7 and got two new medals; one for catching 10 Grass-type Pokémon and one for catching 10 Bug-type Pokémon.

So, it was a pretty productive week in Pokémon GO! I am still enjoying this game a lot. Catching Pokémon and hatching eggs is so fun!

My Gaming Week in Review (8/28- 9/03)!

Console

Nintendo Wii

Last week, I dusted off my Wii Fit board and started playing Wii Fit Plus! Despite the fact that it had been a LONG time since I’ve played, I jumped right back in. I played for a couple days, trying out all the different activities to just get a feel for them once again.

This week, I played twice. I like to do a Body Test every time I play, just to see what my Wii Fit Age is. On Tuesday, it was 32- only 2 years above my actual age, so not bad!

wiifitage32

Despite this fact, the game felt it necessary to antagonize me a bit…

Anyway, I decided to focus on Yoga…

And despite my “poor balance” I managed to snag a high score on one of the exercises!

firstplacewoohoo

I played again on Thursday, took another body test, and was happy to see that this time my Wii Fit Age was 29! Suck it, Wii Fit!

wiifitage29

I focused on Strength Training this time…

And the game found it necessary to antagonize me again!

notbalancedugh

Oddly enough, my right ankle was hurting me that day, so maybe there was some truth to that statement. Whatever! Then I did a plank and I cracked up…

bodybuilderlol

Those that know me would definitely not describe me as a body builder! Haha! Anyway, I am enjoying the fact that I have gotten back into this game. It has exercises that are easy enough for me to do without feeling like I am going to die, so hopefully I can stick with it for awhile! 🙂

Nintendo Wii U

I decided to show my Wii U some love this week and play Animal Crossing: Amiibo Festival. Despite this being a slower-paced game, I still enjoy it. I’m months behind, so I picked the March 2016 board and started playing!

Right off the bat, I lost money on almost every space I landed on. Ugh!

Lots of special characters came to visit, including Katie, Katrina, Phineas, Shrunk and Red.

Shamrock Day was the 17th, but nothing really special happened. 😦

There was a Fishing Tourney on the 19th. I caught a bluegill, which got me 3rd place.

The 27th was Bunny Day! Zipper T. Bunny showed up and told us to look for eggs. I earned 11 Happy Points for finding 11 eggs.

I made a little bit of progress in Pokémon Blue this week! First of all, my Butterfree learned Poison Powder, yay!

Finally, I leveled up all of my Pokémon to Level 15, so I was ready to challenge Brock in the Pewter City Gym.

myteambefore1stgym

When I arrived at the Gym, some chump dared to challenge me while I was trying to find Brock. I made quick work of his Diglett and Sandshrew. In between fighting his two Pokémon, Squirtle leveled up!

After the battle, my Squirtle evolved into Wartortle! Hell yeah!

wartortle

I proceeded to Brock, who didn’t seem like that bad of a guy. I kicked his butt anyway! He had a Geodude and an Onyx, and I made quick work of them both.

Wartortle grew to level 17, too! I then received the Boulder Badge for my troubles.

Honestly, I think I may have leveled up a bit TOO much before that battle. My Squirtle/ Wartortle had A LOT of power. Oh well. On to the next Gym!

Nintendo 3DS

I took some time to pay a visit to my little look-alikes in Tomodachi Life, which I haven’t done in forever! It was pretty late when I played, so a lot of them were asleep. My look-alike (not surprisingly) was still awake and was playing with a puppy!

I decided to give her a makeover and change up her interior design. She seemed pretty pleased with it!

I discovered that although I had made her awhile ago, I had NEVER stopped in to say hello to Judy! Oops! I felt bad, so I fed her, gave her a new outfit, and changed her interior. Hope we are friends now!

I also realized that I had never spoken to David, but that’s not that big of a deal- I made him the last time I played, and turned the system off before speaking to him.

I then created Jenn, who seems to be quite the happy camper, despite the scowl on her face!

Before I turned the game off, I noticed someone was on top of the tower. I zoomed in and witnessed Carolyn doing something incredibly bizarre. She was leaning backwards, staring at the sky. Occasionally she would wave emphatically! Was she staring at aliens? Is she just nuts? We will probably never find out!

As I wrote about in my last entry, I tried out- and quickly deleted- the monstrosity known as I Am Bread. Uggh! Moving on…

I had quite a productive week in Pokémon GO! In one trip,  I managed to catch a Krabby, an Eevee, and a Staryu!

I then hit Level 5 and caught an Oddish! I really like his little smile 😉

An egg I had been incubating hatched, but it was only a Rattata!

I then caught an Exeggcute!

After all that, it was time to choose my team. I listened as each team told me why I should join them.

In the end, I chose team Valor! I love the phoenix logo.

My next trip, I quickly caught a Bellsprout. I was heading through downtown in my city- there are a shit-ton of Pokéstops around here! Lucky me!

Next, I earned a medal for catching 10 Flying-type Pokémon. I was then thrilled to catch a Raticate! He was a little asshole too, he broke out of like 5 Pokéballs before I nabbed him! After catching him, I earned another medal, this time for catching 30 Pokémon.

Next, an Abra popped up, followed by a Nidoran! After catching those two, I leveled up, then earned yet another medal!

Overall, I would say it was a very successful week for Pokémon GO. I am still only playing it casually, and I am really enjoying it. I haven’t been to any Gyms yet to train, but hopefully I will soon!

So as you can see, I was able to enjoy several games this week, even if I didn’t play any of them for long periods of time. I am super happy when I get to relax and enjoy gaming, so it was a good week for me! 🙂

My Gaming Week in Review (7/03- 7/09)!

Console

Nintendo GameCube

Like I mentioned in my previous blog entry, I played Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door for the very first time! I won’t do a recap on it since I just wrote about it, but here’s a funny screenshot:

Nintendo 3DS

I played some Animal Crossing: New Leaf for awhile. It was nice to visit my town again! I came out of my house and noticed that I had something to dig up right by my house!

somethingtodigup
Hmmm, what will it be? Hopefully a valuable fossil!

I decided I needed to update my look a little bit, so I went dyed my hair purple and bought some new clothes! Now I have kind of a cute, sporty look!

mynewlook
I love it! For now. I’ll probably change my mind in a week!

I spotted Leif snoozing near my house, so I decided to help him out and pull some weeds.

sleepysloth
Even though he’s so lazy, I love him!

I then spent some time shaking trees and picking fruit. I found an “amazing machine” in a tree and thought it sounded cool, so I immediately went to my house to check it out!

oohwhatsthis
Sounds awesome!

Man, was I disappointed.

theamazingmachinesucks
Um…. well, that sucks!

There is nothing amazing about that at all! Ugh! Anyway, I also visited my villagers as I traveled through town. Hippeaux has an extremely fancy house!

hippeauxhouseinside
Who knew he lived so richly!

I also found a house plot for Rolf, and I am very excited he is moving in! I had him in my Animal Crossing town many many years ago, and I love him- even if he is a bit grumpy!

rolfhouseplot
Yay!!

I also chatted with Rizzo, who was camping in Blorp for the day.

I even stopped for a cup of coffee!

gettincoffee
Drinking coffee with Kapp’n!

After awhile, I decided to do some fishing. I caught two new fish:  a guppy and an ocean sunfish!

After fishing and selling various items and fruits, I had quite a bit of Bells in my pocket, so I decided to pay off more of my mortgage. I’m getting there!

bellbalance
Blah, I’m always in debt!

I also played some Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer this week. When I started up the game, I chatted with Isabelle. She told me there were a bunch of new projects available for me!

isabelleprojects
Not today, my dear!

However, I wanted to do a little something different this time, so I put off the projects for now. I haven’t used my NFC reader to scan an Amiibo card yet, so I checked that out today. If you aren’t familiar with using Amiibo cards in this game, you simple scan in a card and it “calls” the character on the card. You can then design their home! And since I have the first model of the 3DS, I had to get a separate scanner to be able to use the cards. Luckily, it came bundled with Happy Home Designer. 🙂

Anyway, the first customer I called was Stitches! Of course! I love him! Haha.

I chose a location that was bright and sunny with a little body of water nearby. It seems like he would really enjoy the trees and bright flowers too!

stitcheshouse6
Geez, can I live here too?

I decorated the outside of his house with bright, fun colors. In his yard, I went with tons of flowers, a slide, and two sandboxes for him to play in. I also added a swing so he could look out into the water and relax.

Inside, I made almost everything “Kiddie” and I added a couple toys as well as some crayons and paint supplies for him to play with. I left the middle of the floor pretty open so he would have plenty of room to play!

Stitches absolutely loved his new home, and that made me very happy! 😉

I’ve pretty much made it a habit to play Solitaire before bed almost every night. And surprisingly, I’ve won a few games!

iwonforonce

I also played The Secret Life of Pets: Unleashed for the first time. I REALLY want to see that movie because it looks absolutely adorable! 😉 Anyway, I downloaded it a couple weeks ago and just decided to check it out earlier today.

thesecretlifeofpetsunleashedtitlescreen

This game is a pretty standard Match-3/ Candy Crush/ Juice Cubes type game, but with pets from the movie. At the beginning of the game, I’m greeted by Max, who is very excited!

letsplay

Every level has a different goal, and it seems like every pet wants something different. Max, for instance, is waiting for his owner to come home.

After a couple levels, I unlocked Leonard, who apparently is a purebred metalhead! My kind of dog!

unlockedleonard

Leonard’s levels required me to match toys to turn up the volume on his speakers. When his owner leaves, he starts out listening to classical music, and he is sitting up very proper…

properleonard

But once you give him some volume, he rocks out and starts headbanging! I love it!

headbangingleonard

I only played 5 levels of this game, but it is super cute and fun so far. I will definitely be playing more of it in the coming days!

Those were all the games I played this week. Thanks for reading!

My Gaming Week in Review (6/19-6/25)!

I thought I would do a little something different and start writing a “gaming week in review” blog post on Saturdays. I normally post blogs during the week about games I am trying out, games I purchase, or other odds and ends, but there is a bit more gaming that goes on that I don’t always write about 😉 I’ll break it down into three categories: Console, Handheld, and Mobile. Enjoy!

Console

Nintendo Wii
The only game I played on a console this week was Animal Crossing: City Folk. I finally decided to spend some time weeding my town so it would look nice for once! I did the area near my house previously, but got lazy and never finished it. Oh, and I randomly planted some flowers that my “dad” sent me on Father’s Day right by my mailbox. I bet I will run over them by accident for sure!

flowersfathersday
Why in the hell did I get sent flowers on Father’s Day? Shouldn’t I be the one sending the gift?

I was playing at night, so I took some time to enjoy the fireflies (and Truffles creeping in the background).

mefirefliesandtruffles
Truffles was pacing because she lost her house key. Sorry!

Prince told me probably the greatest truth of all time.

funnyprince
Truer words were never spoken, my friend!

And I met my new neighbor, Caroline the squirrel. She’s kind of cute!

newneighborcaroline
Caroline is also my mother-in-law’s name…

I did finish the weeding, which I was very happy about. Now my town better stay nice! 🙂

Handheld

Nintendo Game Boy
Like I mentioned in my previous blog post, I re-bought 星のカービィ (Hoshi no Kirby) because I felt lame ever since I traded it in many years ago. I of course only played the first level of it, but it was still a lot of fun.

hoshinokirbyscreenshot
I love this game!

Nintendo 3DS
I played a few more levels of Kirby Planet Robobot! I am now in Area 4: Gigabyte Grounds.

area4gigabytegrounds
Sounds very “techy”!

The first level was neat- it looked like some kind of weird, post apocalyptic spaghetti dinner disaster! Seriously. Why are there forks in the background with noodles/ wires wrapped around them, and why am I walking around on pieces of bread? I don’t know, but I love it!

area4level1
I love Kirby’s expression in this shot!

The second level looked much like the first, except there was more fence climbing and lots of poison clouds being blown around that I had to avoid. Also, there were fans that kept trying to push me into enemies and shit. Rude!

area4level2
Touching those clouds probably isn’t a good idea…

The third level looked pretty cool, and had pretty awesome music to go along with it. There was a lot of trickery with the foreground and background, which was so much fun!

area4level3
This level was awesome!

I would have played more, but yep… you guessed it… my 3DS needed to be charged!

Mobile

iPhone
I played several games on my iPhone this week, included good ol’ Solitaire. Normally I do well with this game, but I played like 4 hands and lost every. single. one. Ugh!

solitairefail
Ugh!!

I also played Juice Cubes. At one point, I was stuck on Level 19, which I found highly irritating. I got passed it, though, and I am now on Level 21.

I played/ sucked at Crossy Road a little more too, and I unlocked two new characters! They are New Year’s Doll…

And some weird guy called Capoeira.

He’s pretty funny, because he walks on his hands and flips and does all kinds of weird stuff! This game makes me laugh, even though I am awful at it.

So those are the games I was into this week! I will definitely be playing Kirby Planet Robobot more soon. That game is very addicting! 🙂
