Back in April, Matt over at Nintendobound was cool enough to nominate me for the Mystery Blogger Award. Thanks, Matt! 🙂 I appreciate it! It’s always a treat to get one of these little awards!
Matt didn’t ask any questions to go along with this award, but he had this to say before he gave his nominations: “I opted not to conclude this post by asking questions of my own. However, fully aware that I am going to end up tragically overlooking someone, I will give a nod to fellow bloggers who I admire and who create excellent content.”
I thought that was really sweet and it still amazes me that anyone wants to read my silly little ramblings. Have a great day everyone!
Back in September last year, Megan over at A Geeky Gal received a Sunshine Blogger Award and extended an open invitation to everyone who wanted to answer her questions! They seemed like fun questions, so I decided to give them a go!
1. What game are you currently playing?
I’m playing through a few different games right now, trying to clear some of my monstrous backlog! The main ones I’m playing are Pokemon Blue for the Game Boy, Animal Crossing: City Folk for the Wii, and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild for the Switch!
2. What game are you most looking forward to?
I know it’s already out, but I’m really looking forward to playing Luigi’s Mansion 3 for the Switch! The original Luigi’s Mansion for the GameCube is one of my favorite games of all time, and I can’t wait to play this one and see what kind of spooky surprises are in store 😉
3. What is your favorite game of last year?
Um… I really stink at playing games when they came out, so I’m just going to go with a game I beat last year that I really loved- Super Mario Odyssey for the Switch! I had such a blast with that game, and I still have so many more Power Moons to find!
4. What would you change about your favorite franchise?
It’s hard for me to even pick a favorite franchise, because I have several of them! Let’s just pick… hmm… Animal Crossing! There’s not much I would change about this delightful series… but I wish they would expand the world a bit. Like, maybe have different areas we could go to that have villagers indigenous only to that area. For instance, there could be a whole underwater area where whale, seal, and fish villagers live… or a spooky area where bats live! I think that would be a lot of fun.
5. What game has influenced you creatively? Writing, drawing, etc.
Definitely Donkey Kong Country (well, the series as a whole)! When I was a kid, I would write stories based off the games. I had one pretty bad ass story that was based off of Donkey Kong 64 that was epic, haha. I should try my hand at creative writing like that now…
6. What games do you have multiple copies of?
Donkey Kong Country 1, 2 and 3. I still have all my original SNES carts, but I also have the Game Boy Color version of DKC (they never made Game Boy Color versions of the other two), repurchased them all as enhanced Game Boy Advance ports, and downloaded them all on both the Wii and Nintendo 3DS Virtual Consoles. I also have an SNES mini, which has the first DKC on it. Yeah… I’m a bit obsessed with those games.
7. How do you usually spend a lazy evening?
Typically watching TV with my husband, reading, or playing a game!
8. How many countries have you been to?
Sadly, none aside from my own! Boo! I need to get out more.
9. What was your favorite TV show when you were a child?
Hmm… I loved to come home from school and watch The Animaniacs! I also loved The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air and Saved By The Bell. Still love The Animaniacs and Fresh Prince. As for Saved By The Bell, I haven’t seen it in forever, so I’m not sure if it’s something I still like or not. I did buy the DVD set for $18 a couple years back, so at some point I’ll check it out again!
10. What was the first game you ever beat?
Does Tetris count? Haha! I mean, I beat my high score over and over. Aside from that, probably Kirby’s Dream Land for the Game Boy!
There you have it! Thanks for the fun questions, Megan! 🙂
Back in September, Matt over at Nintendobound was cool enough to nominate me for the Real Neat Blog Award! It’s always really awesome to me when someone takes the time to read my blog posts, and I’m always amazed when someone thinks my work is good enough to nominate me for an award! Matt and I have been following each other for a few years now, and he always writes wonderful reviews, so please go check his blog out! 🙂
Now, normally you answer questions from the person who nominated you, but Matt chose not to ask any this time. Nevertheless, I’m happy to receive this nice little award, so thank you Matt! 🙂
P.S. This is probably my last post before Christmas, so I hope everyone who celebrates has a wonderful holiday!! 🙂
In August, the awesome Red Metal over at Extra Life Reviews nominated me for The Real Neat Blogger Award. That was Real Neat of him! 😉 I’m always flattered and I always really appreciate when I get a little award- plus, answering random questions is pretty fun! So, let’s get started! Here’s the questions that were asked of me.
1. Have you ever watched a film in theaters that featured an intermission?
Nope, not that I can remember! I don’t know if my attention span could even handle something like that these days, haha!
2. What is the most expensive ticket you’ve ever purchased?
Hmmm… probably the tickets for my husband and I to go to the Slipknot concert in 2009. They were floor tickets and I don’t remember how much they were, but I know it was a little pricey. Totally worth it though… seeing Slipknot up close and personal was EPIC and I’m glad we did it. Probably won’t happen again though- I’m getting too old to participate in mosh pits!
3. If you had to trade in fluency of your first language for another, which one would you choose?
Definitely Japanese. I’ve always wanted to learn Japanese, but it’s very difficult!
4. If you could appear on any game show (including ones that have ended), which one would you choose?
This is a great question! I’m convinced that I’m one of those people that know all the answers at home but would freeze and forget everything, including my name, if I had to appear on television. You know which one would be fun though? That one that used to be on Nickelodeon where families had to go through obstacle courses… *looks up the name* Double Dare! Some of that shit was so gross and messy, but it looked like a ton of fun!
5. As someone who has watched many classics over the past few years, I’ve concluded that old films are overall better than recent efforts. What do you think the current generation of filmmakers lacks that allowed their predecessors to shine?
There is a definite lack of new ideas! People keep re-hashing the same shit in a different format. Some is good, some isn’t… but I’m ready to see more unique ideas!
6. How do you like your eggs prepared?
EEWWWW!!! I HATE EGGS!!! I don’t know why, but I’ve hated them ever since I was a kid. Every once and awhile I will make scrambled eggs for my husband for breakfast, and I have to struggle not to puke just looking at them. Don’t even get me started on how slimy and snotty it looks when you first crack it open! Recipes that call for eggs make me want to cry… good thing I don’t bake cakes very often.
7. How do you like your potatoes prepared?
Now this question is more like it! 😉 I love potatoes…. baked potatoes, potatoes au gratin, mashed potatoes, french fries, potato chips… yeah, potatoes are awesome in pretty much any form. Yum!
8. If you found yourself directing films, which genre would you want to specialize in?
Since horror is my favorite genre, that’s what I would chose! And I would not kill off any animals dammit!
9. What is your favorite band/artist with a limited discography (i.e. no more than four studio albums)?
Oh wow, that’s a great question! I used to be so much better at keeping up with bands I like, but now I’m in the “this is the music that I like, I don’t want to hear new stuff” category. Yikes, I’m old! Anyway, many of the bands that I like seem to have released more than 4 albums, so this is a hard question to answer. Poking through my music collection, I only have one cd from a band called 16 Second Stare, and by the looks of it, they have only released one other cd and a few extra songs, so let’s go with them!
I actually remember picking up their cd for 25 CENTS at Best Buy many years back. I took a chance on it because it was cheap and the album cover is a toilet with roses coming out of it- classy! Turns out, there’s some pretty decent hard rock/ metal tracks on the album, which is fine by me!
10. There are many stories over the years of projects or ideas never getting off the ground or being canceled mid-production. Which one would you bring into reality if you could?
I’m hopeless when it comes to news about what’s up and coming, so I’m probably oblivious to most things that get cancelled.
11. What series do you feel managed to be consistently good for an extended period of time?
As far as video game series go… the Donkey Kong Country series. I loved the original trilogy and loved the revamped Returns series too- I feel like each game has something different and exciting to offer.
As far as book series, I’ll have to say Harry Potter. Every one of those 7 books keep me enthralled and entertained!
TV series… definitely Breaking Bad! I watched all 5 seasons without once saying “Wow, that was boring” or “That episode was pointless.” I can’t say the same for most other series I’ve watched, even if it’s a series I really like.
So that’s that for this award! Thanks for reading!
In June, The Dragon’s Tea Party answered some interesting questions for the Sunshine Blogger Award. She then came up with her own questions and invited everyone to answer… so here I go! 😉
1. What’s been your favourite movie released in the last year?
Hmm… I don’t always watch movies anywhere close to the time they come out… but I just recently saw John Wick 3: Parabellum and that came out earlier this year, so let’s go with that one!
2. Does tea taste better from a pot or from a cup?
When I drink tea, I always just make it in the cup! I don’t know if it necessarily tastes better, but that’s just how I roll.
3. Which biscuit do you dunk in tea/coffee?
I actually don’t really dunk anything in my tea or coffee much anymore, not sure why. But for some reason, whenever I have a bagel and coffee, I dunk the bagel in the coffee, cream cheese and all. Is that gross? That’s probably gross. Oh well!
4. When it’s a sunny, warm day what do you like to do?
Go to the beach or the pool. Lounging in the sun (with copious amounts of sunscreen) and listening to music is one of my favorite ways to spend a day!
5. What’s your comfort food of choice?
When I’m having a shit day, nothing is better than stuffing my face with delicious french fries!
6. How much wood could a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood?
Google tells me 700lbs. worth. Who knew?
7. Which game gives you a warm, fuzzy feeling inside?
Definitely any game from the Animal Crossing series! I have happy thoughts just thinking about that series. ❤
8. What was the last game you rage quit?
Hmm, let me think for a moment here… I haven’t really rage quit anything in awhile, but some of the puzzles in Samsara: Deluxe Edition for the Switch really tested my patience! I’ve realized I’m not great at games like that, so when it gets really difficult, I want to move on to something else.
9. What’s your feelings on Harry Potter: Wizards Unite?
I actually haven’t played this game, because I’m not interested in walking around/ going to different places to try to play. I’m lazy and prefer to game with my ass planted comfortably in a chair!
10. It’s your birthday and you can have any cake you want! What do you go for?
I’m not much of a cake person, but I had carrot cake for my birthday a couple months ago, so I’ll go with carrot cake!
11. Name your snacks and beverages of choice for while you game.
I don’t eat while playing games as much as I used to when I was a kid, because I don’t like touching my controllers with dirty hands, haha! Every once and awhile I’ll snack on some chips though! As far as beverages… I usually like to drink some iced tea or coffee! 🙂
When I WAS a kid though… I would totally eat Lunchables pizza while playing games. I would carefully make each little piece of pizza (bonus points if one of them was a dessert pizza!), have them set out on a plate, and take a bite every now and then while gaming! Man, that was fun…
So that’s it for this award. I’m too lazy as you all know by now, so feel free to answer these questions if you want! 🙂
In July, the always awesome Lightning Ellen tagged me in a rather unique tag, something I’ve never done before… a female empowerment tag! In this tag, I have to answer questions about awesome ladies in video games, tv, movies, etc. etc. This is probably going to be somewhat difficult for me, as I tend to draw blanks when I’m asked very specific questions… good thing this is a blog post and not a face-to-face conversation with someone, haha! Anywho, let’s check out the rules for this tag:
Choose female characters from books, movies, TV, anime, webtoons, etc.
Tag as many people
Sounds easy enough, right? Let’s see how it goes!!
1. Name a heroine you like but whom you feel is always overshadowed by the male characters in the story.
As I am in the midst of re-reading the Harry Potter books (I do it once every couple years or so), the first character that pops in my mind is Professor McGonagall. She is super strict and a total stickler for rules and I feel like had I attended Hogwarts, she and I would not have always seen eye to eye! Nevertheless, she is a bad ass witch who knows her shit, yet is often overshadowed by Professor Dumbledore, Professor Snape, etc. She doesn’t go totally unrecognized, of course, but I feel like she deserved a little more of the limelight!
2. For that matter, name a heroine whom you feel is always overshadowed by the other female characters in the story.
I’m going to go with Elizabeth the vampire in the Fanged Fae series by Ashley McCleo. For those unfamiliar, I have reviewed the books on my blog because Ashley is kind enough to send me ARCs of her books! Anyway, Elizabeth is a supporting character who helps the main character, Mauri, learn how to control and utilize her vampire side. We get glimpses of Elizabeth fighting, and she sounds completely bad ass and unstoppable. I just wish there was more of her in the books!!
3. Name a character who had potential but was greatly underutilized in her story.
This might seem like a completely off-the-wall answer, but I chose Vesta from Harvest Moon: A Wonderful Life. She runs another farm in town, and she seems like she knows what she’s doing. Instead of developing her character more and maybe providing a bit of friendly competition, she happily sells you seeds so your farm can be more successful than hers. She literally sits back and does nothing while you slowly build up your farm and cause hers to fade into obscurity because no one wants to buy her shit anymore. Come on, Vesta, get it together!
4. Name a female character who you either find better in her book than her movie, find better in her movie than her book, or whose portrayals you find equal.
Maybe it’s because Harry Potter is on my mind… but I love both the book and the film version of Hermione! I’ll admit, she annoyed me a little at first, but despite her occasional know-it-all attitude, she really is a badass. I had a clear picture in my head of what she was like in the books, and she was brought to life so well on the big screen.
5. Name a character who you want more backstory on.
How about Cooking Mama? She’s starred in several games, but we don’t know shit about her except for the fact that she gets angry as fuck when you mess up her recipes. I want to know more about her, but I also want to punch her in her angry little face.
6. Name a character with traits you feel are sadly overlooked by everyone.
Let’s all hear it for Erin from Super Tennis!! Anyone remember Erin? What about Debbie? Amy? Shit y’all… these are all super awesome female tennis players that kick ass, and no one knows anything about them. They can beat the boys any ol’ time, but I bet not many people used them when they played this game. I can’t even really find any pictures online.
P.S. I know next to nothing about sports, but I played the shit out of this game when I was a kid!
7. Name a morally grey character. (Villain or anti hero!)
I’m going to have to go with my girl Nitara from Mortal Kombat on this one. I’ve mentioned her quite a long time ago in one of my posts, but she is a badass vampire who just wants to do her own thing. She’s not a villain, but she’s not interested in being a hero either. What’s so wrong with that?
8. A character you’re stunned isn’t more famous.
I’m probably the wrong person to look to as far as what’s famous and what’s not. I tend to stay in my own little world and pay little mind to things like that! Uh… I’m drawing a complete blank here. I guess I’ll choose Clare from the Claymore manga series. There is way too much shit to explain the Claymore storyline here, but let’s just say that she’s a badass and she deserves credit.
There you have it! If anyone wants to answer these questions themselves, go for it! 🙂
Somehow, I missed a post from Art of Redress (who, sadly, does not have a blog anymore… though he does post for The Well-Red Mage now and then!) back in September 2018 awarding me The Sunshine Blogger Award! Oops! I’m not sure how that even happened. So here I am, accepting my little award 9 months later! I really do appreciate it, even though it took me this long to respond. Anyway, here’s the rules for this lovely award:
Thank the blogger who nominated you and link back to their blog.
Answer the 11 questions the blogger asked you.
Nominate 11 new blogs to receive the award and write them 11 new questions.
List the rules and display the Sunshine Blogger Award logo in your post and/or on your blog.
So let’s get to the questions.
1. What is your favorite Sega game?
I’m going to have to go with Crazy Taxi. I’ll admit, I didn’t even play Crazy Taxi until it came out on the GameCube (I never had any Sega consoles until I reached adulthood!) but I loved that game and played it for so many hours.
2. What’s the furthest you’ve ever ran?
Haha… that’s funny! I hate running. Hate, hate, hate. If you see me running, it means shit is going down, so you’d better run too!
3. Winter or summer?
I love summer! Yeah, it gets hot as balls, but I love swimming and going to the beach. I enjoy winter too, even though we don’t really get much of one here.
4. If you could go back in time to stop All Saints covering Under The Bridge, would you?
I’m not familiar with All Saints, so I can’t really say.
5. Favourite comedy film?
Hmm, this is a tough one. I like comedies, but for some reason I’m really drawing a blank here. *checks Pinterest for inspiration* Ya know what, I’m going with Bad Santa. Billy Bob Thornton is disgusting in this movie and I love it!
6. What mobile phone do you own?
I have an iPhone 8. It’s decent, but I find myself wishing for a bigger screen. My eyeballs ain’t what they used to be!
7. Favourite ice cream brand?
I don’t really eat ice cream all that often, but good old Publix brand is what I usually buy if I get any!
8. Cinema snack of choice?
If I get food at the theater, popcorn is a good choice obviously… but I also like getting either a hot dog or some nachos!
9. What is your worst gaming experience ever?
Playing the shit stain known as Napoleon Dynamite for the PSP.
10. Last time you did a press up?
It’s been awhile, haha! Probably since before my shoulder got all messed up like 2 years ago.
11. If you were a cat, what name would you hope your owners chose for you?
Beelzebub. I’ll also accept Evil the Cat, like the little guy in the pic above (from Earthworm Jim!).
And there you have it! Since I was nominated for this award quite awhile ago, I’m not going to think up questions and stuff. I’m lazy, which y’all know by now! 🙂
Back in July, my blogging friend The Shameful Narcissist wrote a blog entry in which she described the process of creating her own blogging award! Check out the entry here! That’s a really cool thing for her to do… and she made my day by nominating me for her new award!
It’s called The Eclectic Blogger Award, and she describes it as this…
The Eclectic Blogger Award is presented to those blogs that are both eclectic and engaging, where conversation flows freely, where new and different ideas are always welcome. It’s to recognize blogs that always have interesting content to match the amazing, creative, and hard-working creators that make them possible. These are the blogs that inspire you to read, watch, play, and/or create content to further enhance not only the blogosphere but also the general zeitgeist, because they themselves enrich it with their existence.
Here’s what she said about me in her post:
Defy the Majority – I can’t look at Kirby now without thinking about this awesome blogger who’s made me want to play Animal Crossing as well as the big, puffball’s games! I can’t help but appreciate someone who diligently goes through my ramblings from quite long ago, reading through and commenting on them. She understands the struggle of not only keeping up with the backlog, but keeping up with talking about the backlog. I know it helps keep me honest and work on it, but it takes time away from, you know, working on the backlog :p
These are the rules for the award:
Nominate whomever and however many bloggers you want for the award.
Share links from your blog for some of your favorite (or most eclectic!) posts.
Well, you know how I do… I nominate anyone and everyone! 🙂
And as far as my favorite posts from my own blog… *clicks on random posts*…
I disappoint myself lol. I can’t really pick one! I do like my Gaming Month in Review posts, though I’m very inconsistent with those because they take up a lot of time and I’m always tired! I also like doing tag posts now and then, because those are a fun way to share more about myself!
So there you have it! Thanks for the fabulous new award, I really appreciate it! 🙂
I’ve done this once before from my good blogging friend The Shameful Narcissist, but I figured… why not do it again? 😉 Back in May, she received a Liebster Award and invited anyone to answer her questions. I love doing this type of stuff, so I thought I’d jump on board! The link to her post is here, and please go check her out- she’s awesome, and I’ve learned A LOT about Final Fantasy from her! Without further ado, here are her questions!
1. What is your favorite musical instrument?
I love the guitar! I just love the way it sounds. I used to love playing the guitar, too, until my stupid hands decided they’d rather develop arthritis and carpal tunnel instead of letting me live out my rockstar dreams. Fuck you, hands!
2. What video game world and/or locale would you live in?
I’ve chosen one of these before, but I’ll try to go with a different place this time. Hmm… I know! In the spirit of Halloween, I’d love to live in Luigi’s Mansion. It’d be full of spooky fun! I’d try to make friends with all the ghosts, especially that little ghost doggy, whose name currently escapes me.
3. What holiday do you hate the most?
Blasphemy! I love all holidays because most of them are a great excuse for my family to get together. But if there is one that I like a little less than the others, it would be Valentine’s Day. I’m not really a huge fan of pink stuff, hearts, and flowers everywhere. Ick!
4. What’s your favorite type of pet?
Oh man… this is really hard for me to say! I’ve had many type of pets over the years, and I’ve loved them all for different reasons! Hmm… well, I just can’t pick. Right now I have a dog, a cat, a bearded dragon, a fish, an axolotl, and 4 turtles, and I feel like I’d be choosing my favorite child lol. I will say that I LOVE having a bearded dragon, though. They are so fun and cuddly, despite their prehistoric appearance. ❤ Give reptiles a chance!
5. What’s your phobia (if you feel like sharing it)?
Oh god… roaches. Disgusting, creepy roaches. They are a mainstay where I live because of the humid environment, but man… if you ever want to see me completely lose my shit, have a roach crawl by me. I lose all dignity and I will scream, jump on top of tables, knock people over to get out of the way…. it’s pathetic. I realize it’s a bit of an irrational fear because it’s not like they bite or anything, but they are just so GROSS I can’t handle it. And when they fly? Forget it. I am almost having a fucking heart attack right now just thinking about one making a beeline for my face.
6. What’s your preferred social media site?
I don’t really have one! I don’t really participate, haha. I don’t care what people are doing every second of the day, and I don’t care to share what I’m doing either! I guess the only social media site I’m part of is Pinterest, but I don’t go on there to be social…. and most of the people I “follow” I don’t know anyway!
7. What book did you read as a child that now disappoints you as an adult?
I’ve been making it a habit to re-read some of my favorite childhood books every now and then. Some of my favorite series as a kid were The Baby-Sitters Club, Goosebumps, Fear Street, and Animorphs. I have to say, the past couple Fear Street books I’ve read were kind of lame-o. The plots are thin and the characters are a bit annoying… oh well. I’d still read them again anyway.
8. What’s your favorite type of ice cream?
Coffee flavored! I don’t eat much ice cream anyway, but when I do, I mostly always buy coffee flavored. I used to get it when I was a kid because no one else in my house liked it, so I would have it all to myself *evil laugh*
9. Roughly how many video games and/or books do you own?
A LOT of video games! Between my husband and I, we have over 1700 games! That number is inflated a bit by all the plug-and-play systems that have many games on them. Even without those, that would still put our total around like 1200 or so. Hey, I have no shame. It’s a hobby I enjoy, and it helps that I kept all of my games throughout the years, you know? As far as books, between physical copies, manga, and my Kindle, a few hundred maybe? It sucks because I did not hold on to many of the books I had when I was younger, which I am kicking myself in the ass for. I am downloading some of my childhood favorites on my Kindle though, so I’m slowly rebuilding my collection.
10. Who is your favorite MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe) character?
It’s kind of hard for me to say, honestly. I enjoy Marvel movies and such, but I’m not exactly an extreme fan of any one character. Maybe I’ll just say Groot from the Guardians of the Galaxy movies 😉
11. What is your favorite cartoon?
SpongeBob Squarepants. Oh, how I love SpongeBob. The show is completely ridiculous, but I don’t care. It makes me laugh and it’s great to watch when you want to veg out and think about absolutely nothing! I also really like Family Guy.
Bonus Question: Can you answer The Riddle of the Sphinx (no Googling!)?
I feel like this is something I knew a long time ago, but it’s escaped my mind now 😉 Oops!
So there you have it! These questions are always fun to answer! 🙂
Back in April (geez, one day I’ll be caught up on my posts!) I was nominated for The Sunshine Blogger Award by Red Metal over at Extra Life! It’s always an honor to be nominated for an award- it feels good to know that there are some people who find my blog interesting, haha! So let’s get started!
1. What is the dumbest competition you ever got in with your friends?
Hmm…. that’s an interesting question! I’m not a very competitive person- I mostly stay out of any sort of competition if I can help it! Even when I was in school when I was younger I didn’t care much to compete. I guess I’m kind of a softy, haha.
2. If you could form a band, which genre of music would you end up playing?
Oh, no doubt I would be in a metal band! I love metal, hard rock, etc. so it would only be natural that I would be in that type of band. I’d probably play the guitar, despite the fact that my poor arthritic hands no longer have the dexterity to do so. Or maybe I’d just be the lead singer so I could scream all day long! 😉
3. What is the first film you ever watched in theaters?
Oh wow! I don’t really remember going to a lot of movies when I was younger. For some reason the first movie that comes to mind is Casper the Friendly Ghost, which came out in 1995 when I was 9. I also remember the fact that it was pouring down rain that day! There may have been an earlier movie that I went to, but I just can’t remember!
4. What is the oldest film you’ve watched all the way through?
Well, I’m not exactly a movie buff. I do enjoy watching movies, but it’s not like I’ve seen all the classics or anything. I would say the original The Wizard of Oz (1939) is the oldest movie I’ve seen. I have a distinct memory of watching it on my old tiny black and white television when I was 3 or 4 🙂
5. Have you ever fallen asleep watching a film before?
Oh yes. This shitty “horror” movie called Dark Water. It was so cheesy- basically this stupid woman was screaming because there was black mold growing slowly on the ceiling. Okay, so the mold actually wasn’t mold- it was a demon or something. I don’t know- I fell asleep, remember? All I know is that it was lame and even the fact that I consumed too many shots before watching did not help keep me entertained!
6. What is your personal record for most number of films watched in a day?
Probably 3 or 4! Sometimes when my husband and I are lazy on the weekends we’ll watch a few movies just to veg out!
7. What is the single most heretical opinion you hold when it comes to video games?
Umm…. I do NOT like the Fire Emblem series at all. I’m sorry. Fire Emblem is a series a lot of people enjoy, but it’s not for me. It’s mainly the gameplay that I don’t enjoy, but I don’t seem to connect with any characters either. I’m not downing the series in any way, and I feel bad for even saying that I don’t like it! I can certainly appreciate Fire Emblem, I just don’t care to play the games.
8. What is your proudest achievement playing a game?
I’m proud whenever I stick to and actually beat a game, haha! I am gonna say, though, I’m proud of myself for completely mastering Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars. I have fully maxed out every character, done every little side quest, collected everything there is to collect… I’ve even found all the little treasure chests hidden everywhere. I’m obsessed, I can’t help it! And since I have an SNES Classic, I’ll probably be playing it again soon 🙂
9. What do you believe to be one of the few advantages that gaming critics have over film critics?
I think that the fact that you can actually interact with the medium is huge! I enjoy watching movies, don’t get me wrong, but it is a passive activity. Gaming is interactive, and everyone’s experience will vary.
10. Have you ever binge-watched a show?
Yes! There have been several. Breaking Bad is one of the main ones… believe it or not, my husband and I didn’t watch this show at all until a few months after the last season aired! For some reason, I didn’t find the premise that interesting, so I never tried to watch it. Then my mom and stepdad told me how great the show was, so we decided to check it out. We were instantly hooked! In fact, when we got to the last season, only the first half was on Netflix here in the USA. So naturally, we tricked Netflix into thinking that we were in the UK so we could watch the rest! We couldn’t wait 🙂
Also, Stranger Things. We told ourselves we would spread the shows out and watch them over time, but that did not happen! Where the hell is season 3?!
There have been other shows I’m sure, but those two definitely take the cake!
11. Do you follow any webcomics?
No, I don’t! Should I be? 😉 I’ll happily take some suggestions!
And there you have it! Thanks again for the nomination, Red Metal! I appreciate it! 🙂
