Well, I sucked even more this week than I did last week.
One Game I’ve Been Playing Anyway: Super Mario Run!
The only game I made progress on this week was Super Mario Run, and I actually beat the game! That’s an accomplishment, at least! I played through a couple tricky World 6 levels, including a damn ghost house that I don’t know how I got through on my first try! I also played a pain in the ass airship level that killed me a couple times.
Finally, it was time to take on Bowser! He was actually really fun to play. It took me a few moments to figure out what I was supposed to do, which was have Mario automatically jump over Bob-ombs, which in turn flings them into Bowser. The challenge here comes from the fact that the screen is, of course, always moving, there are tons of platforms to jump on/ jump down from, and there is fire everywhere. After a few hits, Bowser was toast, and Princess Peach was saved!
Also, since I beat the game, I unlocked Princess Peach as a playable character.
Now, my goal is to collect all the special coins in each level, as well as unlock the rest of the characters. I hate how you have to get Toads from Toad Rally to do that, though. Toad Rally can be a pain! I only need 11 more Yellow Toads to unlock Yoshi, so I’m hoping that’ll happen soon! As of right now, I’ve collected all the pink coins up to World 1-3.
One Game I Should Have Definitely Beaten By Now- Pokémon Blue!
Nope. I did, however, charge up my GBA, so maybe I’ll get some playtime in next week?
One Game I’ve Had Forever And Haven’t Touched- Harvest Moon: Animal Parade!
One Game Together- ZombiU!
I SAID NOPE!
Bonus Game- Pokémon GO
Since I ran out of PokéBalls and am too lazy to get more, I didn’t make much progress in Pokémon GO this week. I did, however, evolve my Goldeen into a Seaking…
Since I didn’t need Goldeen to be my buddy anymore, it was time to choose a new buddy! I almost have enough candies to be able to evolve Drowzee, so he is now my buddy!
That’s it for this week. I really had hoped to make more progress, but as always, real life gets in my way. At least I got one game beaten, so even if I don’t beat the other 3, this challenge won’t be a total bust! 😉
I’ve decided to forgo my normal “Gaming Week in Review” posts in favor of writing about my progress in the Four in February (in March) challenge! How did I do my first week? Pretty shitty, it turns out! Look at me, I’m not even writing this post until halfway through the second week! Haha, I am not very good at meeting deadlines… anyway, here’s my progress for each game!
One Game I’ve Been Playing Anyway- Super Mario Run!
I actually did make pretty decent progress in Super Mario Run this week. I kicked ass so hard in Toad Rally, the person I was up against didn’t have any Toads left!
I leveled up my kingdom to Level 5!
Here’s a few screenshots from my gameplay this week.
At the end of last week, I was on World 5-4 Rings of Fire! I’ve since passed that level, but that will have to be discussed in the Week 2 post! 😉
One Game I Should Have Definitely Beaten By Now- Pokémon Blue!
Nope, haven’t touched it. I keep meaning to charge up my Game Boy Advance SP so I can make some progress, but it just hasn’t happened yet.
One Game I’ve Had Forever and Haven’t Touched- Harvest Moon: Animal Parade!
Still haven’t touched it.
One Game Together- ZombiU!
Michael and I have made progress in ZombiU! I’m not quite sure how far we are- I haven’t read about it or watched any videos so I don’t spoil anything. We are having fun trying to get the hell out of London!
This game is not easy. The controls are a little odd to get used to, you have limited ammo, and once you die, your character is forever dead! Luckily, there are many potential characters to play as, so once you kill one off, another one is immediately ready to play where you left off.
One thing that annoys me a little bit about this game is the fact that I often feel like I am running fool’s errands- go fetch this, go sneak into this building, no wait go back into the first building, hang on, now I need a random fucking book- I feel like this “Prepper” guy along with the doctor in the Buckingham Palace are just trying to get us killed!
The game is also a little glitchy. We died at one point because a room was completely empty so we walked through it, then turned to walk back out only to find that there were at least 7 zombies in there! Another time, we got completely stuck to a wall and couldn’t turn around.
Despite my complaints, I am still really having fun with this game! I’m interested to see where it all ends. Currently, our mission is to Raid the Military Armory.
Bonus Game- Pokémon GO!
I mostly always play a little Pokémon GO during the week, so why not add that to my little weekly review? I’m pretty low on PokéBalls, so I couldn’t play very much. However, I still managed to catch a Marill…
and a Wartortle!
Well, I kind of sucked at playing my chosen games this week. Hopefully Week 2 will be a little more successful! 🙂
I popped in to say hello to my villagers in my Animal Crossing: City Folk town of Spookie this week. The snow has melted, and spring is here!
So much green! I love all seasons in Animal Crossing.
I was getting ready to say hello to everyone when I realized I had a letter in my mailbox from Queenie that I apparently already opened. I didn’t remember getting a letter from her, so I read it (again).
HAHA YES! BYE BITCH! I don’t know how I forgot she moved away from my town, but I am very happy anyway!
Prince let me know that I had been gone for 8 months. Sorry buddy! Real life really gets in the way of my gaming life sometimes.
Angus was all packed up and ready to move out, but I never got an option to be able to change his mind no matter how many times I talked to him! Bummer. He’s kinda cool.
I went into Nan’s house and was fascinated by the fact that she had a dung beetle as a pet. It was rolling poo round and round. Who wants a pet like that?
Bella came up with a new nickname for me. I’ll take it, I guess…
Nintendo Wii U
As I mentioned in my Four in February… in March! post, Michael and I recently started playing ZombiU together! It’s a really fun game that makes you think about the actions you are taking- you can’t just run in, guns blazing, and kill all the zombies. I will write more details about our progress when I do an update on my challenge later this week, but for now, here’s the box art for ZombiU!
No Handheld Gaming this week!
But OF COURSE I played more Pokémon GO this week! I caught a Wobbuffet…
a Wooper (who is SO CUTE)…
and a Party Hat Pikachu! Yay! He just randomly popped up in my house. I don’t know why, but I really love the special edition Pikachus 😉
I also played Super Mario Run. Obviously I haven’t written a First Impressions post of it. By the time I do, it’ll be more of a review, because I’ll be done with the game! Anyway, here’s the level I left off on:
No PC gaming this week!
No Misc. gaming this week!
So yeah, not a lot of time for gaming this week at all. I spent a few hours on ZombiU, but other than that, my game time was limited. That sucks!
I peeked in on my little Look-Alikes in Tomodachi Life this week. It was late at night, so a lot of them were sleeping when I visited. Anyway, Ryu and Leilah became friends…
Carol loved her new reggae hat that I gave her…
Someone had a freaky dream about worshiping soft serve ice cream…
and I solved 700 Mii Problems!
So, I decided to try out Fire Emblem Heroes this week. The graphics are really nice!
I tried out a few of the levels, but… I just can’t seem to get into it!
The game isn’t too hard to figure out, and the story isn’t bad. I just feel like there are a ton of characters I know nothing about, since I haven’t played any of the previous Fire Emblem games.
I did use orbs to summon a few heroes, but I should’ve waited until I had a couple more, since I only had enough to summon 4 of them! Oops.
Anyway, it really is a bummer, because I WANT to like this game so bad. Nothing about it really grabs my attention and makes me want to play it again, though. Plus with all the different characters and different stats, etc. etc., it’s a lot to learn- and I don’t really feel like learning it right now. I’m glad to see so many other people enjoying it though! For now, though, I’ll probably focus my attention elsewhere.
I played a little bit of Pokémon GO this week, and I caught 3 new Pokémon! They were Natu…
Teddiursa (HOW CUTE)…
I played through some more Super Mario Run this week. I am loving this game! I still plan on doing a First Impressions post of it sometime this friggin’ year (I’m sooo slow) but this is the level I am currently on:
No PC gaming this week!
No Misc. gaming this week!
So overall, I didn’t have a lot of extra time for gaming this week, which is a real bummer. I need a vacation!
I visited my Animal Crossing: Wild World town of Booland this week. I was looking through my pockets to see what I had, and for some reason I had this gas mask… so I put it on. Creepy, but I like it!
Elmer was crying because he missed me so much! Poor guy. He is also trying to move away, so I tried to convince him to stay in Booland. I don’t know if it worked yet or not!
Meanwhile, Robin found her way onto my Official Shit List. Piss off, Robin!
Luckily, Stitches was there to make me feel better. I just love that little guy!
Surprise! I picked up a Playstation Vita last Sunday! I went to a cool gaming store and got a whole bunch of goodies (goodbye, Christmas money!) so I’m going to do a blog post on that soon. The game I chose to buy with my Vita was Persona 4: Dancing All Night. I’ll be doing a First Impressions post of this game, so I won’t spoil anything here. In the meantime, check out the colorful loading screen!
Well, I beat Cooking Fever this week! At least, I beat the default restaurant that you start with (Fast Food Court). I reached experience level 9, which was nice.
After beating all 40 levels, this screen popped up.
And here are my stats after beating every level!
Now that I’ve cleared all the levels, I really don’t have much motivation to upgrade that particular restaurant any further. I have 2 additional restaurants I can unlock as of right now, so I’ll save my coins and gems for those. For now, though, I consider the game beaten. I’ll definitely come back to it to play the other restaurants at some point though!
I played quite a bit of Pokémon GO this week! I hatched 2 eggs: one was a Meowth, one was a Tentacool. Kind of disappointing, since I already have both of those. I was hoping for a Gen. 2 baby, but oh well!
I finally evolved my Metapod into a Butterfree!
Since I have all of Caterpie’s evolutions now, it was time to pick a new Buddy! I decided on Goldeen, since I only need 4 more candies before I am able to evolve it.
I was pretty excited when the update rolled out this week and many new Pokémon became available!
I caught quite a few of the new Johto Pokémon. The first one I caught was Furret, who was standing right on top of my dog!
I also caught Sunkern…
Cyndaquil…(I don’t know what happened to the picture I took as I caught it?)
and finally, Sentret!
I also reached Level 18 and earned a medal for registering 5 Johto region Pokémon to the Pokédex. Overall, it was a pretty successful week for Pokémon GO!
I finally got around to trying out Super Mario Run this week! I’m going to do a First Impressions post for this one too (geez, I have a lot of blog posts I need to write!) so here’s a pic of the loading screen! 😉
No PC gaming this week!
No misc. gaming this week!
So overall, I didn’t have a whole lot of free time for gaming this week. That’s always a bummer. At least I caught a bunch of new Pokémon and beat an iPhone game this week, so that’s progress! Thanks for reading!
I finally showed some loved to my poor, abandoned Doubutsu no Mori town of Weezey this week! Many of my villagers expressed their displeasure about the fact that they had not seen me in 5 months! Sorry, guys!
My favorite villager, Sutoroberi, told me I hadn’t spoken to her in 8 months, which is pretty sad!
The saddest thing, however, was when I spoke to Hippocrates and this dialogue popped up.
Roughly translated, he is saying that he waited around for me for 10 months and was excited, but then he wondered if I disliked him because he never saw me! Then he said something else that I didn’t translate and me being the click-happy fool I am, whatever response I chose made him sad! I KNOW he’s not real, but I still felt bad. I’m going to send him a present to try to make it up to him!
I found an igloo, so I popped in and had a visit with Hyakupa. I’m not really sure what is cooking behind her, but it kept inflating and deflating every few seconds. It’s different from the little pot of chowder that is in the localized version of Animal Crossing. If anyone knows what that is, please let me know! 🙂
Anyway, I actually played this game for a couple hours, just talking to my villagers and finding ways to make money so I can pay off my ungodly mortgage payment! I was playing as the sun was setting, and I like the way it looked in this picture!
One thing I noticed that was weird… despite the fact that I had not played in 5 months, not ONE weed was in my town! Not that I’m complaining or anything. Maybe weeds don’t grow in the winter in this game?
After a little while, I took a break from playing. When I loaded my game again, it was snowing!
This probably doesn’t sound overly exciting, but I know in Animal Crossing for the GameCube, the weather is what it is all day long and it doesn’t change. So the fact that this game has weather changes throughout the day is pretty cool!
Since it was Saturday, I stopped by the railroad tracks and had Totakeke play a song for me. Don’t ask me what it was though, for some reason I couldn’t translate it!
I spent the rest of my time shaking trees and fishing so I could earn more cash! One of these days my mortgage will be paid off…
I made some progress in The Legendary Starfy this week. I continued my journey in Hotcha Springs, where Starfy happily flew through the air, pushed upwards by hot steam…
And he also pushed some stupid rocks around to… pop some little fish so I could get through a door.
Seriously. Pushing rocks around underwater kind of sucks. Anyway, Starfy also learned how to glide through the air so he could save these weird little octopi called The Squirts, who make a name for themselves telling really awful jokes.
This game is kind of insane, but I like it! I left off on Level 2-4 Hotcha Springs: Hot-Spring Snapper Battle.
I checked on my little town of Tilt in Animal Crossing New Leaf: Welcome amiibo. The first thing I did was link my town to my Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer file. I’ve been meaning to do that since I got the game. 🙂 Now I can get exclusive furniture and all that fun stuff!
They gave me a Nook’s Homes Model as a welcoming gift. My house is way too small to display it right now, but I’m definitely keeping it!
While I was shaking trees, a washer/ dryer came out. Weird, but I’ll take it!
I discovered Gulliver for the first time on the beach! Unfortunately, I’m pretty sure I guessed where he was going incorrectly. Whoops!
Joan was camping at the campground that night. I haven’t seen her there before!
Even though I was playing pretty late and all the shops were closed, I still looked on Main Street. The Gardening Shop has been built!
Not really any mobile gaming this week. I did play a little Pokémon GO, but my progress was negligible.
No PC gaming this week!
No other gaming this week!
That’s it for this week’s gaming fun. Thanks for reading!
My post is a little late this week, sorry about that! I normally like to post my weekly reviews on Sundays, but I had a terrible headache for a couple days that put me behind. Not that I have that much to write about anyway, but let’s see what games I played this week! 🙂
Nintendo Wii U
Michael and I continued to play through Yoshi’s Woolly World. The game is increasing in difficulty a little bit, but nothing we can’t handle! We finished up World 4, which threw some spikes at us as well as some very strange waterfalls, then we faced off in an epic battle against Petey Piranha!
After kicking Petey’s butt, we moved on to World 5. World 5 is an icy, wintery world that is so pretty! Makes me want it to be Christmas again… anyway, check out some screenshots from World 5!
And here’s an adorable snowman and Mega Yarn Yoshi! 🙂
We left off on World 5-6: Up Shuttlethread Pass. I have no idea what that even means, but I guess we’ll find out!
I had time to briefly visit my Animal Crossing New Leaf: Welcome Amiibo town of Tilt this week. Remember last week how Poppy wanted me to come over, then Genji immediately wanted to come over to my house? Well, they both sent me gifts for hanging out with them! Genji sent me a boomerang, while Poppy sent me an azalea bush. Thanks, friends!
Poppy tried to tell me she was moving away, but I told her hell no. She’s too cute to leave!
Something new is being built on Main Street! What could it be? 😉
Apples were at a premium at Re-Tail, which was awesome because apples are my native fruit! I immediately ran around and shook all the trees so I could make some easy Bells!
I also got my town-development permit. Now I can start Public Works Projects!
I am still having fun playing Cooking Fever, though it is getting pretty hectic! I still find myself easily confused if I don’t pay close attention to what I’m doing.
At one point, one of my soda machines broke down! I didn’t know this could happen in the game. Luckily, it was fixed quickly. I wonder if anything else can break…
I’m enjoying upgrading all my items as well as my actual restaurant. I am now at experience Level 8.
I left off on Level 31 of the Fast Food Court. Maybe I’ll finish these levels soon so I can play one of the other venues, like the bakery! Here are my current stats:
As you can see, there’s still a lot of upgrading I can do. This game keeps you busy for awhile, and I like that.
I played just a little bit of Pokémon GO this week. It wasn’t working properly most of the time when I was trying to play, so oh well. I finally evolved my Staryu into a Starmie…
And I caught a Seadra, you guessed it… at work! 🙂 Seadra is the evolution of Horsea, so now I don’t have to worry about evolving the one I have!
I also reached Level 17.
No PC Gaming this week!
No Misc. gaming this week!
So, that’s it! Hopefully this new week will bring more gaming adventures for me 😉 Good night!
I haven’t done it in a little while, but I thought I’d bring back My Gaming Week in Review for the new year! I always enjoyed writing this type of summary post, and it helps me keep track of my gaming! Let’s see if I can keep up with this on a regular basis- I tend to be awfully flighty, haha! 😉
First, though, I want to say thank you to The Shameful Narcissist who has so nicely awarded me with a blogging award called The Sunshine Blogger Award! 🙂 I’m so excited to receive another reward! I have a couple more blog posts planned, and then I will post all about it!
So, let’s get to what I played this week!
Michael and I continued playing Yoshi’s Woolly World this week. We both love this game! It’s so cute and vibrant. Here are some screenshots from World 2:
This level’s name really cracked me up for some reason:
Although the “Blargg” was a very rude creature who kept trying to attack me and push me into the lava! I remember those jerks from Yoshi’s Island…
The best part about World 2, though, was POOCHY!
I love Poochy! Here’s a few more screenshots of him just being awesome!
So we then moved on to World 3…
And we knitted together a few more Yoshis, but I’ll get better pics of them later! We left off on World 4-1, so I’m sure we will continue on with our adventure this week!
Something I do every now and then is play an “easy” game before bed. Something I don’t have to spend a lot of time or effort on but that is still fun. I decided to resurrect this idea and play a game that is cute, simple, and one that I never played all the way through- The Legendary Starfy!
This game is so adorable. I previously only played through the first 3 levels (shame on me!) so I just started a new game. Despite being underwater most of the time, the controls are actually pretty easy.
Plus, Starfy is just so HAPPY. I mean, just look at the joy on his face when he does something as simple as jump in the air!
Ironically, I left off where I did before, but I don’t plan on stopping here! I want to play the game through this time, even if I just play one level before bed at night. In the meantime, enjoy Starfy in his beachwear outfit and sunglasses!
As you probably figured from my last entry, I also played some Tomodachi Life this week. After doing those pictures with my Grampy, I decided to check in on my islanders, many of whom told me they hadn’t seen me in 3 months! Oops!
Anyway, one of the first things I noticed was that Kevin was sad that he and Marge had broken up. He replayed a montage of good times in his head, and it took me forever to get him out of his mopey mood!
However, not more than 15 minutes later, Jason begged Marge to be with him. Frank (Grampy!) tried to say he loved her more, but she still went with Jason. Kevin who?
Also, Dani attempted to hook up with Steve, but he stood her up at the cafe. That bastard!
I found Isabella’s super all-time favorite food…
As well as Skye’s worst-ever food!
And Steve, paying no mind to Dani’s broken heart, wanted some clothes to “up his cool factor.” I found an outfit that said just that in the clothing store, and he loved it!
So, things are just as quirky as ever on Crickie Island. Never a dull moment there!
I didn’t do any mobile gaming this week!
I FINALLY bought and started playing Stardew Valley this week! I have been wanting this game for quite some time, but was holding out for the Wii U version. Once that got cancelled, I decided to buy it on Steam. I’m going to do a First Impressions post of this soon, so stayed tuned for that. But here’s what the adorable icon looks like on my desktop! 😉
Finally, I played a little bit of my Retro Machine that Michael got me for my birthday last year! For those that aren’t familiar, it’s a cute little tabletop arcade system with 200 games built in! I’ve played some of the games, but not all of them. I want to eventually play through all of them, so I started right at the top with F-22!
F-22 is a pretty cool little shooter. It’s kind of like a mix between Space Invaders and Galaga, and its difficulty is pretty unforgiving.
At one point, I did get to a boss…
but right after I took that picture, I died, and I had to start the level ALL OVER. Bullshit! Oh well. Still fun though!
So those were my gaming adventures this week! See ya!
I only had time for a few games this week, but I did squeeze some gaming in here and there! 🙂
No console gaming this week. 😦
I dug through my backlog and played a very bizarre game called 101 in 1 Explosive Megamix and um… yeah. I was going to write up a First Impressions post about it, so stay tuned for that in the next couple days. In the meantime, here’s the lovely main menu:
I played a little bit of the game 10000000 this week. If you’ve never heard of it before, the premise is this: you are stuck in a castle, and you have to upgrade your castle to become free. If you earn 10,000,000 points, you are free! You earn points by matching tiles on the bottom screen according to what is going on on the top screen. For instance, if you are standing in front of an enemy, you might match swords to defeat him. If you are standing in front of a treasure chest, match keys to unlock the chests. The top screen is constantly scrolling, so if the left side touches your character, it’s game over.
It’s an interesting premise for sure, and the game was fun when I started playing it. However, I erroneously thought that your score was cumulative throughout your adventure, and eventually you would earn the correct number of points to be set free. That is not the case, though, and suddenly the thought of earning 10 million points seems insane. I felt that after a couple rounds and a few objectives complete, I still wasn’t really getting anywhere. The game has kind of lost its appeal to me, and I’m not sure I’ll play it anymore.
I didn’t have much time to play Pokémon GO this week, though I did do the update so I could have a buddy! Of course, my first buddy of choice was Squirtle. Look how adorable it looks standing beside me! I also love how its little head is shown next to your face on the map. 🙂
I did evolve a couple Pokémon this week. I evolved my Caterpie into a Metapod…
my Pidgeotto into a Pidgeot…
and my Weedle into a Kakuna!
I also reached Level 8 this week.
Lastly, I played a bit more Crossy Road. I unlocked Unlucky Cat…
Unexpected Shrew (which has the most ADORABLE board!)…
and Elf, which got me in the mood for the holiday season!
That’s it for my gaming adventures this week. See ya!
