Day 29: A Game You Thought You Wouldn’t Like, But Ended Up Loving.
Hmmm…. another difficult question! I don’t typically buy games unless I’m sure I will like them, though I have taken chances on games every now and then (but that’s only when I THINK I will like the game). However, one game comes to mind that I never really considered playing when it first came out:
Smuggler’s Run: Warzones. It’s not that I thought I wouldn’t like this game, but it just kind of flew under the radar for me for awhile. Then one day my cousins came over with a bunch of their GameCube games, and this was one of them. Turns out it’s a pretty fun game! You spend a lot of your time driving illegal contraband to drop off points and of course, there are many complications that can arise from doing so! I borrowed the game for a few days, but my husband (who was my boyfriend at the time, haha) and I were enjoying it so much, we bought our own copy!
Day 28: Favorite Game Developer.
Well, this one is super easy for me, and you probably won’t be surprised by my answer!
Of course it’s Nintendo! There are many game series that I love, but Nintendo has consistently created some of my favorite titles. I’m partial to them anyway since some of my fondest childhood memories involve me playing Nintendo games. 😉
Day 27: Most Epic Scene Ever.
Meh… WHY am I feeling so uninspired these last couple questions? It’s like I can’t think of anything at all for my answers. Most epic scene… hmm… oh, I know! When Baby Bowser turns into gigantic Bowser in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi’s Island for the SNES!
The first time I saw this scene (hey, I was 9) I was really blown away. I couldn’t believe how huge Bowser got! It definitely threw me for a loop, and I probably would’ve described the scene as “epic” had that been a thing when I was 9. Yep, it’s the best I can come up with right now.
Day 26: Best Voice Acting.
Um… I’m probably not the best person to be asking this question. I feel like I haven’t played many games lately that had significant voice acting in them. Since I’m pretty much drawing a blank, I’m going to draw inspiration from my answer yesterday and say Persona 4: Dancing All Night!
Though I haven’t played all the way through the game, I was pretty impressed with the voices thus far.
I read online that some people disliked Rise’s voice because they got a different voice actor for this game. I had nothing to base it on, though, so I don’t mind her voice. 🙂
Day 25: A Game You Plan On Playing.
Why don’t you just take a look at my backlog and shake your head at all the games I’ve listed as “unplayed”? Those are all games I definitely plan on playing at some point! However, one game I SWEAR I’m going to get to soon is…
Persona 4 Golden for the PS Vita! As I have written about in earlier posts, I bought Persona 4: Dancing All Night (which is the semi-sequel to Persona 4) and thought it was a lot of fun. When I realized it was a sequel, however, I really wanted to play Persona 4, despite the fact that you didn’t really need to play it to understand the story of Dancing All Night at all.
I bought Persona 4 Golden for the Vita because it is an enhanced port of Persona 4 with some great new additions added in. Plus, my Vita really needed some love and this seems like the perfect game to take with me on the go! Of course, my attention is elsewhere right now in gaming, but Persona 4 Golden is near the top of my list of games to play next!
Day 24: Favorite Classic Game.
Is it sad that I don’t really consider games from my childhood “classic” games?! I feel like those games aren’t old enough to be considered classic, although kids these days think the NES and SNES are ancient history. Maybe I just don’t want to admit that I’m getting older! 😉
Anyway, I’ll answer this question with the mindset that a “classic” game is something that was released before I was born. With that being said, I gotta go with Pac-Man!
There is something about Pac-Man that is so wonderful. All these years after its release, it still holds an appeal that is unique and timeless. Disclaimer: I really suck at this game, but I have fun playing it anyway, just to see if I can beat my high score! It doesn’t matter how you good you are at games, though- anyone can play Pac-Man! 🙂
Day 23: Game You Think Had the Best Graphics or Art Style.
This one is so difficult to answer! Any answer I give will be purely subjective, because what one person thinks is so great might not appeal to other people.
I’m going to go with a game that I truly spent a lot of time marveling over how pretty it was: Super Mario Galaxy for the Wii.
Super Mario Galaxy had so many areas that were just so beautiful and begged to be explored! There may be “better” art styles, but this is one of those games where I really did admire the graphics.
The water levels in particular were super pretty. That reminds me, I never did beat the final Bowser level in this game. Whoops! I need to finish that up. 😉
P.S. I just did a scheduled post for this blog entry, since here in the U.S. we are celebrating Thanksgiving and I’m probably going to be busy stuffing my face with way too much food! Happy Thanksgiving to those who are celebrating! 🙂
