About the Game

harvestgoddess3

Harvest Moon: Animal Parade was released for the Nintendo Wii in North America in 2009. It’s a farming simulation much like other games in the series. In this game, the main point of the story revolves around the fact that the Goddess Tree is dying. To save the tree, you have to find five little Harvest Sprites and ring their respective bells. Once you do that, you have to finagle some other shit to get all the bells to ring at the same time, which calls upon the douchey Harvest King, who then saves the Goddess Tree. In between all that madness, you farm, you fish, you talk to people, etc. I considered the game beaten when I restored the Goddess Tree, though there were plenty of in-game days left.

What I Liked

flutefields
So many animals to pet and befriend!

First of all, this game is ADORABLE! The human characters are so cute and the animals are totally huggable! I love the fact that you can befriend wild animals. I also love the way the landscapes look as the seasons change. It’s especially beautiful in fall and winter. I also appreciate how many different things there are to do in this game- you can fish, spend all day in the mines, grow many different types of crops, interact with all the townspeople in various ways, go to a tropical island… not to mention all the various sidequests, which include helping some dude get his circus animals back.

So cute!

I also want to make a point that when your character is falling in love with someone, it’s actually really cute. I don’t usually care about this type of stuff in games, but it’s so sweet! Conversations seem to happen on a more random basis and makes the relationship feel more fluid somehow.

What I Didn’t Like

doucheyharvestking
Whatever asshole…

At first, there were so many different things to do in the game, my days were very busy. After a little while, though, the pacing. Was. HORRENDOUS! There were times the game dragged so much I almost fell asleep playing it. I found myself really struggling to finish up the main game… I WANTED to see it through, I just didn’t feel like playing. You may recall from this blog entry I posted in July that I had a hell of a time trying to get my Farmer ranking high enough to trigger the end sequence. The game gives you no indication of how close you are to the goal each month, so it’s pretty much a crap shoot.

Also, being in the mines really pissed me off sometimes. There were way too many different types of gas that could do all sorts of annoying shit to you (like reverse your controls, make you sick, etc.) and it took some of the fun out of mining.

Closing Thoughts

fishingcontestend
Fuck no, I’m not coming back!

I started off really liking this game a lot. Once the pacing became unbearable, it took me forever to finish the game, because I quickly got bored while playing. It’s a shame, because originally I wanted to continue playing after I beat the main game and have kids, continue to expand my farm, etc. I don’t really see myself going back to the game any time soon, though, because I have way too many other games to play!

After continuing to plug away at Doubutsu no Mori, I finally paid off my house loan!

Yes, I got stung by a bee, don’t hate!

Tanukichi was apologetic when he said he couldn’t upgrade my house any further, but he said he wanted to build a monument for me to commemorate my accomplishment. How nice of him!

Immortalized in gold.

Also, this Google Translate made me laugh so hard….

Really?!

Since my loan is fully paid off in Doubutsu no Mori, I decided to move on to the next Animal Crossing game I need to do so in, which happens to be Animal Crossing: City Folk. As I’ve previously mentioned, this is the Animal Crossing that I’ve put the least amount of time into, so I have a long way to go!

When I booted up the game, my pals told me I hadn’t seen them in 3 months. Sorry!

I walked around picking weeds and talking to everyone, enjoying the stormy weather. I also met my new neighbor, Moe!

newneighbormoe
He’s a cutie!

I couldn’t remember what version of Nook’s store I had in this game, so I went to take a look. To my surprise, I had Nookington’s! It was closed for the night, though.

nookingtonscityfolk
I don’t know why fancy clothes are shown in the window when he doesn’t even sell clothes…

Not much else happened this month. To make money, I caught a bunch of fish. However, I realized that I had only 4 fish that I had donated to the museum… I like to always donate one of each kind of fish (or bug) to the museum, so I ended up donated most of my catches. Oh well.

Currently, I owe 248,000 bells on my loan.

Despite my greatest efforts, I only managed to get “Master” ranking at the end of Summer in Harvest Moon: Animal Parade, which is the ranking below Hero. I was SO PISSED, because I really thought I had it. I feel like the game royally screwed me over, and I almost gave it up. However, being so close to the end irritated me and I want to actually beat it, so I decided to try again in the Fall.

Turns out, you can fast-forward your gameplay a little bit by sleeping all the way through the day! So I settled into a routine of waking up, checking my crops and animals, then going right back to bed. I even considered selling my animals just so I didn’t even have to worry about them, but… their cute little digital faces made me feel guilty.

The only crops I planted were Bluemist flowers, which turned the easiest profit. I also put a shitload of fertilizer down to make them grow faster. I really didn’t want to take any chances this season!

Finally, at the end of the season…

ultimatefarmer
Ultimate Farmer bitches!

Sweet! The ultimate ranking is the top ranking you can get. Damn skippy! The next day, I raced up the mountain to ring all the bells.

ringallbells
Trippy…

The somewhat douchey Harvest King returned and restored the goddess tree.

doucheyharvestking
Oh shut up already!

A brief ending sequence played, and the game was beaten! FINALLY! I’ll probably write some sort of wrap up for this game in a later blog entry, if I get around to it.

Nintendo DS

After months of ignoring the bane of my existence The Legendary Starfy, I decided I was ready to finish it up! I had left off on Level 8-2, so I didn’t really have much left to do! The level immediately aggravated me by starting out with one of those stupid gap jumps that are impossible to judge so you just die a million times before you figure it out!

I played a train section with some damn cheesy graphics…

cheesytrain
Hmmm….

After a couple more slightly annoying levels, I made it to the final boss, Mashtooth. Oh my god… what a huge pain in the ass he was!

annoyingmashtooth
I hate him.

This annoying asshole had a couple different forms you had to fight, and each time you lost, you had to start all over. The plus side of this is I started to become pretty good at fighting his first form! His second form was difficult, though, and gave me some trouble.

The last “form” wasn’t really a fight… I just had to push the moon back at him a couple times. Ha, that sounds so dumb when I actually write it out! Anyway, I finally beat the stupid mother fucker, which means….

beatstarfy

I FINALLY BEAT THE LEGENDARY STARFY OMG! There are some end game levels to play, but I’d be lying if I said I was interested in playing them.

In Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp, I participated in Fishing Tourney #3! I ended up missing a couple days of gameplay though, due to being busy around the 4th of July and not really wanting to play. I only got a bronze trophy, but oh well.

fishingtourney3results

Another July event was Kapp’n’s Bloomin’ Booty, which was a sunflower themed garden event. Meh… you probably know how I feel about gardening events by now. I got a couple cute items, but didn’t really care to participate too much.

kappnatcamp

Also, can I just tell you how pissed I am that there are several seriously cool beachy items, but you have to buy fortune cookies to have a CHANCE to get one?! I mean, you could buy 5 fortune cookies and get 5 of the same thing… sorry, I’m not wasting my Leaf Tickets on that shit. Hopefully I’ll be able to buy one or two with some Bells, but otherwise, no beach stuff for me.

Oh, I finally paid off my loan for my van. Woo!

paidoffloanpocketcamp

The 3rd event for July was the Gyroidite Scavenger Hunt #3, this time with adorable little jelly gyroidites! I really liked the furniture this time around.

huntingjellygyroidites

Surprisingly, there was another Fishing Tourney… but I really sucked at it this time around. I didn’t play much, and I ended with another bronze trophy. I didn’t even get a pic of my results, sorry!

My birthday was July 26th, and my friend Callula sent me a message telling me to check her campsite out. She had it decorated with birthday/ party decorations for me, which I thought was really awesome!

callulabdaycampsite

Lastly… I got Stitches’ picture! Aww!!

stitchespic

Here’s what my campsite looks like:

Currently, I’m at Level 87, and I have 102/ 104 animals invited to my campsite.

******

Also, I decided to try out Pokemon Quest.

pokemonquesttitlescreen

It was very cute but… I just wasn’t a big fan.

Maybe I just wasn’t in a good mood when I played it, but it seems like there’s many different things going on, and it just wasn’t something I was interested in continuing to play. Also, I’m tired of free to start games with energy shit, so there’s that.

So that’s what I was up to in July! Like I said, my birthday was July 26th, and I got some cool gaming related stuff that I will share with y’all in a later post! Thanks for reading! 🙂

My Gaming Month in Review: June 2018!

Console

Nintendo 64

I continued playing Doubutsu no Mori this month, and I am inching closer and closer to my goal of paying off my house! It’s the rainy season, and it’s often raining when I’m playing. One thing I noticed is unlike Animal Crossing for the GameCube, the weather doesn’t stay the same all day in Doubutsu no Mori! Well, it will if you leave the game running… but if you turn it off and come back to it later, the weather may be different. This is probably due to the fact that the in-game time is actually saved on the game cartridge itself and not the console. It’s not a big deal, just something I observed!

Anyway, on June 10th there was a Fishing Tourney!

fishingtourneyjune

Apparently it was a bass- only tourney, which I found out when I tried to give Chip something else. I only caught one small bass, and it wasn’t enough to win the tourney. Oh well!

fishingwithmypals

Currently, I owe $53,000 bells on my loan.

owe53000bells

Nintendo Wii

I’m still slogging through Harvest Moon: Animal Parade, and I FINALLY got the 10th person’s wish, and I immediately ran to the church so I could ring the final bell! When I got there, Edge (the harvest sprite in charge of the bell) started crying and told me he couldn’t ring the bell because it was raining. Okay, fine. I waited until the next day and rang the bell!

It was then time to talk to the Harvest Goddess. I expected her to be happy but nooooo, she told me her stupid tree was still dying and the only way to save it was to call upon the Harvest King. You do that by ringing all 5 bells at the same time… which you can only do if you are ranked Hero or higher. FUCK!

There are a couple different ways to earn Hero rank, and annoyingly, the game doesn’t tell you how far along you are in achieving that goal. You just have to play and hope at the end of the season you actually did it. Since I am on Year 2, Summer, Day 20, I have 8 more days in the season left to go before I find out if I did it or not. I better make the ranking, or else I may snap the game in half and throw it out the window.

Anyway! I also participated in the Summer Festival. There was a “fish” contest and a “fishing” contest. Apparently the fish contest is where you are judged based on the fish you’ve already caught, while the fishing contest is for how many fish you can catch in a certain amount of time. Uh huh, sure. I got third place in the fish contest, yay!

3rdplacefishtourney

However, when I tried to enter the fishing contest…

fishingcontestend

Ugh! No thanks, I don’t WANT to try again next year!

Mobile

iPhone

I continued playing Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp, and once again, I have all animals invited to my camp! That’s 99/99 invited, and I’m at Level 83. My main goal now is upgrading all my amenities (specifically, the elegant amenities right now). Once I do that, I’ll work on maxing out all of my campers so I can get their pictures! 🙂

There were three events this month, and one was a gardening one… uggh! Digby’s Artful Retreat was full of cute little furniture that was way too annoying to get. I mean come on:

cantcatchshit

How could I earn anything when I can’t catch shit?! I got a couple rewards at least, and I’m happy with what I got. I love the birch trees!

Another event was a gyroidite scavenger hunt, which is always fun! I like collecting them. But… all of the items you could craft were clothing, save for one small table. I wasn’t particularly interested in the clothes, either, because they were all wedding themed. Oh well. I did get a giant wedding cake as well as a wedding arch out of fortune cookies that I bought for 5000 bells each, and that went well with the theme.

gyroiditehunt

Lastly, a Fishing Tourney started on the 29th, and it’ll run through July 4th. Fishing Tourneys are my favorite!

Here’s what my campsite looks like:

I also changed the inside of the first floor of my camper around. I wanted more of a cabin theme, so here ya go:

So there you have it: my June gaming adventures! I’m making some pretty slow progress, because real life gets in my way as usual. Any progress is better than none, though, right?!

My Gaming Month in Review: May 2018!

After a bit of a hiatus, I’ve decided to bring back a type of post that I’ve always enjoyed doing, but that ended up taking too much time for me to write: My Gaming Month in Review! This time around, though, I’m going to be working on this post throughout the month, so I won’t have a shit-ton of stuff to come up with when the month is over! Plus, I’m also trying to work on only one or two games at a time, so I’m more focused on beating a game before moving on, versus just jumping around from game to game. This is me we’re talking about though, so by the time next month rolls around, it could all be different. Anyway, here’s what I was up to this month!

Console

Nintendo 64

Besides narrowing my focus on other games, I’ve decided to narrow my focus on my Animal Crossing games as well. Instead of checking in on my different villages on different days, I’ve decided I’m just going to focus on one of my villages at a time until I have my house paid off. It’s lame that I’ve only paid off my house in Animal Crossing and Animal Crossing: Wild World! With that being said, I’m focusing first on Doubutsu no Mori!

I’ve been playing this game for a couple years on and off now, and I still suck at Japanese. One day I’ll actually start those lessons… anyway! My little village of Weezey is doing quite well, and I’m working on my second house expansion. I currently owe 163,000 Bells, so I have a little while to go!

Oh, and I also found a totally creepy policeman/ crossing guard figurine up for sale at Nook’s. Its arm moves back and forth and I don’t know… it just weirded me out for some reason. Not something I want in my house!

creepything
My character is closing her eyes because she is creeped out too!

Nintendo Wii

I am STILL playing Harvest Moon: Animal Parade. I’m determined to ring that final damn bell so I can consider the game beaten! It’s still so slow going, because every in game day takes about 20 minutes or so, and lately I haven’t had much extra time to play. I have told 9 out of 10 people’s wishes to the shrine, so I’m getting really close! Becoming friends with people so you can get their wish is a total pain in the ass though. I’m tired of giving them gifts!

I did participate in the Animal Festival, which occurs on the last day of Spring. I competed in all of the contests, and surprised myself by doing pretty well. My duck, Quackers, got 1st place in the livestock contest, while my snake, Slither, got 1st place in the pet contest! I also did a race with my cow, Ember, but the controls confused me and pissed me off, so I think I ended up in 4th or 5th place.

slithercompetition
Slither is a good lil snake!

One extremely adorable perk to getting 1st place is your animals wear a teeny tiny crown on their head! Aww! Here’s Quackers and Slither with their crowns on (though Slither’s is pretty hard to see).

quackerscrownslithercrown

Anyway, I’m currently on Year 2, Summer, Day 10. I’ve got two hearts for the last person I’m trying to become friends with (a really overexcited girl named Maya), so I’m really close to ringing the damn bell.

Mobile

I’m still playing Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp every morning before work (and on the weekends while I’m sitting there drinking my coffee 😉 ) and I’m still very much enjoying it! Right now I’m focusing on getting all the villagers invited to my camp, which is easier said than done considering new ones keep getting added to the game! It took me awhile of sending Gulliver away with shitty items so I could get the three traveling villagers, but I finally got them all! Currently, I have 92/ 94 villagers invited to my camp.

There were a couple events I participated in this month. The first one was Katie’s Fruit Party, which was a gardening event. I’m not too fond of these events, because I don’t like how low the capture rate is. I feel like if you plant flowers and a creature appears on top of them, you should automatically catch them. I don’t like feeling like I have to play multiple times throughout the day, and I’ll be damned if I spend Leaf Tickets to complete an event. So, I just played casually and won whatever I could win, and I don’t really care that I missed out on some of the prizes.

The second event was much more fun- Chip’s Fishing Tourney #2! I don’t mind playing a couple times a day to see what fish I catch, and I don’t feel like I “have” to play. I loved catching the puffer fish! 😉

twopuffers
They are like spiky little pompoms!

I ended up with a silver trophy, which isn’t too bad. I wish the event would’ve lasted a couple days longer, but oh well.

Anywho, here’s a couple different pictures of my campsite and my camper. I change everything around quite often, so you never know what to expect when you visit my campsite! 😉 I have also reached Level 79!

Well, that’s it for my gaming in May. I got some things accomplished, but hopefully by next month I’ll have some games that I can take off of my backlog! 🙂

My Gaming Month in Review: August 2017!

Well, I have been sick all this week with a lovely cold! It’s a little early for that, isn’t it? I hope that doesn’t mean I’ll be sick all through the fall and winter!

Besides the cold, I am NERVOUS because I live in Central Florida, and Hurricane Irma is supposed to start impacting our weather Sunday. The hurricane is so big and covers such a wide area! The track has shifted a few times, and none of those shifts have been in our favor… it’s been crazy this week as people have been stocking up on supplies and getting their houses ready. I’m still hoping it shifts away from us… anyway, let’s just hope for the best here!

Now to talk about something much more fun… video games of course! I didn’t get a ton of gaming time in for August, but I still managed to make some progress in a few of my games!

First of all, Michael and I had a bit of fun this month playing some games on our Atari Flashback 7 console! I just love Atari games. Anyway, the Atari Flashback 7 has 101 games to choose from, so there’s a ton of different options here! We played a few of them, including Bowling, Frog Pond, Hangman, Miniature Golf, Night Driver, Sky Diver, and Slot Racers.

Night Driver game me a damn headache, and we couldn’t figure out Sky Diver for the life of us, but the other games were a blast to play. Frog Pond had us laughing so hard trying to get our frogs to move and eat the flies! It was simple, silly fun.

I played Doubutsu no Mori a little bit on the N64 this month as well. It seems like it’s always raining when I play!

alwaysraining

I FINALLY witnessed a balloon getting stuck in a tree, and I eagerly shook the present down! Inside was… an annoying executive’s toy. Yippee.

presentintree

One day when I started up the N64, a message popped up on the screen that I hadn’t seen before. I was a little worried, until I realized that the controller wasn’t all the way plugged in! Still, the literal translation of “please throttle controller 1” gave me a good laugh!

throttlecontroller1

I continued working towards paying my debt on my house, and one of the best ways to do that is by fishing. I know I’ve said it before, but fishing is such a royal pain in the ass in this game! My reaction time is way too slow, I guess.

As it stands, I still owe 285,000 Bells to Tom Nook. One day my debt will be paid!

285kbellsleft

Meanwhile, in Harvest Moon: Animal Parade for the Wii, I finally got Bo’s wish! Two people down, eight more to go. I’m getting close to hearing Renee’s wish.

bowish

Owen is seriously crushing on me, lol! I sound like a middle schooler. 😉 It is adorable to watch, though. He asked me on a random date at one point, which I thought was pretty cool. I wasn’t expecting such a random event- makes the romance a little more “realistic” in my opinion!

At the end of August, I was on Year 1, Autumn, Day 26…. I didn’t get a screenshot of my progress though!

I also continued playing Juice Cubes on my iPhone. There were some limited time vacation levels to play, set in a world where everything was frozen solid. These levels are really hard! I only played the first level.

juicecubesvacationisland

Back in the main game, the levels are still pretty tricky. I beat Level 29 on the very last turn!

Currently, I’m on Level 35.

juicecubeslv35

I’m still slogging my way through The Legendary Starfy on the Nintendo DS. The game is so cute, but the gameplay mechanics are so weird sometimes… and I think that’s why it’s taking me so long to beat this.

starfymushroom

It’s such a pretty game though!

starfycute

Also, I spent way too much time laughing at this screenshot:

boobcorns

Yes, I am aware that sometimes I have the same humor as a 12 year old boy. So be it! I’m currently on Level 4-3: Sogwood Forest: The Papes Chase.

That’s it for my gaming fun in August. I had a really productive month in Pokémon GO, which I will detail in my next blog post. 🙂

My Gaming Month in Review: July 2017!

**EDIT: I’m dumb and I originally had this post titled My Gaming Month in Review: June 2017! Yeah, I definitely meant July…**

Let me just say, doing these types of posts once a month is much easier than doing them once a week! As I’m playing games, I just jot down a few notes here and there and take screenshots if I feel so compelled… it’s way less stressful! 😉 Anyway, here’s what I played in July!

I’m making considerable progress in Harvest Moon: Animal Parade for the Wii. I’m still working on becoming friends with people so I can ring the purple bell! So far, I’ve only gotten Owen’s wish. These people need lots of gifts before they become friends with you, ugh! What’s with all the bribery?!

Anyway, one wish down, nine to go! I’m almost friends with Bo and Renee, so hopefully I’ll get their wishes soon.

Besides becoming friends with people, I’m becoming friends with all the animals too! I was really happy one day when I went pet the snake and realized I was able to adopt him!

adoptthesnake

I named him Slither, and now my little snake friend lives in my house! I wish I had a bed or little tank or something for him, but he still seems happy just slithering through my house! I can also teach him tricks and carry him around, which is pretty cute.

slitherinmyhouse

One day while I was visiting Toucan Island, I fished out some swimming trunks. Um… okay?

caughtswimmingtrunks

One of the holidays during Autumn is the Moon Festival. I was pleasantly surprised when Owen asked me to go with him!

owenaskingmeout

The night of the Moon Festival, Owen and I hung out and had a great time! He said he was going to keep asking me out, so don’t reject him! This guy is pretty pushy, and he spends all his spare time lifting weights… geez, what did I get myself into?!

moonfestival

He still seems sweet, though. Soon after he shyly brought me a gift and wanted me to turn it into an accessory!

presentfromowen

Here’s my current progress:

year1autumnday24

And here’s how much money I’ve made so far:

currentprogress

Aside from Animal Parade, my husband Michael and I continued playing Kororinpa: Marble Mania for the Wii! We played the single player game, but took turns with each level. Towards the end, though, the levels get REALLY annoying!

annoyingstage

Seriously. The last few levels were so aggravating it almost took the fun out of it for me. I blame myself for not having a steady hand, but still.

In the end, though, we beat the game!

theend

Doing so unlocked mirror mode, and we played around for a little while seeing how different marbles worked for different levels. We may finish mirror mode, we may not. I’m cringing at the thought of those last few levels…

mirrorstages

Well, that’s about it for my gaming this month! I’ll have a separate post for Pokémon GO progress next. See ya!

What I’ve Been Playing Lately!

I know I haven’t been very good at posting much about the games I’ve been playing lately- sorry! It was fun to do my “Gaming Week in Review” posts, but it started to become a little bit of a chore. I feel like when it’s time to sit down and play a game, I want to just PLAY it, not worry about taking screenshots and remembering what I was doing to give a play by play of it later. So, I figured if I did more of a summary post of what I’ve been playing, that would be easier and more fun to do! Doing this once every few weeks or so is much less stressful than trying to put out a post like that every week.

Anyway, I’ve decided that I’m going to follow a format for gaming that I came up with awhile back: I’ll try to focus on one console game, one handheld game, and one mobile game at a time so that I actually finish more of my games! 😉

With that being said, the console game I am currently playing is still Harvest Moon: Animal Parade for the Nintendo Wii. I am still loving this game! I’ve made considerable progress since the last time I posted about it. There are 5 bells to ring in order to restore power to the Harvest Goddess and get everything running as it should be, and I’ve already managed to ring 4 of them! The only one I have left is the Purple Bell, which is literally going to take forever. You have to become friends with 10 people and hear their wishes. Once you hear their wishes, you take the wish to a shrine because they can’t seem to do it their damn selves!

I haven’t quite become friends with anyone yet, though I am currently working on Owen. I also want Owen to become my husband, so I give him the gift of rice every day and he is warming up to me, haha!

owengift
He gave me a gift… I think he likes me! 😉

Honestly, it doesn’t bother me that it is going to take awhile to ring the Purple Bell. I have so many upgrades I need to make to my farm, and there are so many different things to do, this game will keep me busy for a long time! Here is a screenshot of my current progress:

currentprogress

And this is how much money I’ve made so far. Not bad at all!

60daysin

As far as handheld gaming goes, I’ve decided to forge ahead with The Legendary Starfy for the Nintendo DS. It is a fun game, but for some reason I play it, then put it away for long periods of time without actually finishing it! I’m going to try really hard to see this to completion, though. The last level I beat in this game was a boss battle against King Ping:

vskingping
Starfy is happy, but I’m aggravated!

This guy was a total annoying douche who killed me a bunch of times because the attacks in this game are extremely cheap and you die way easier than you actually should! Ugh! I finally beat him though, and now I am getting ready to enter Sogwood Forest, which should be super wonderful.

sogwoodforest

World 4-1: Sogwood Forest: In a Fog is the exact name of the level I am currently on, in case you care!

In the world of mobile gaming, I’ve picked back up Juice Cubes on my iPhone! It’s a cute little game I’ve played before but never beaten, and the developers have added many levels on since the last time I’ve played. This game has a fun summertime vibe that I figured is perfect since it’s now summer! I’ve started from the beginning just to get myself re-acquainted with the game, so I’m only on Level 3!

level3
The “Target Score” is actually just my high score since I’ve already beaten the level. I don’t know what the original Target Score is!

level3jc

Even though there are three main games I am focusing on, there’s always room to play one of the Animal Crossing games! 🙂 Currently I’ve been playing Doubutsu no Mori for the Nintendo 64. I want to finally pay off my house! So I’ve been fishing, digging up fossils, and shaking trees to try to make tons of Bells! It’s been raining every time I play lately, but I don’t mind. The rain is soothing in all of the Animal Crossing games!

rainrain
I just realized how much this screenshot sucks- you can’t really tell it’s raining! Oops!

I currently owe 339,000 Bells on this current expansion, so it’ll be awhile before my house is paid off.

makinghousepayment

There’s also always room to play Pokémon GO as well! I’ll do a separate post at the end of the month to fill you in on the new Pokémon I’ve acquired! 😉

So there you have it for the games I’ve been playing lately! I wish I had more time to play, but what else is new!

First Impressions: Harvest Moon: Animal Parade!

Like I first mentioned awhile back, one game that I’ve had for a long time but never played is Harvest Moon: Animal Parade for the Wii. I’ve always thought the game looked adorable (and I love Harvest Moon!) but I just never got around to playing it! Doing the Four in February challenge finally made me start playing it… and I’m glad I did!

harvestmoonanimalparadetitlescreen

The game starts out with you riding on the back of some random dude’s cart off to your new farm. It looked suspicious to me, but my character didn’t seem to mind.

begingame

Upon arriving at my new farm, my teeny little friend Finn (who constantly buzzes around my head) asked what the name of the place was. When I saw what was automatically written in for me, I laughed out loud!

Misty just happens to be my cat’s name! Of course, I kept it. So now I live on Misty Farm, haha! Anyway, I took some time to wander around my property, and it’s really cute!

Why the hell do I have to purchase something that’s already on my land though?! Talk about lame!

Anyway, I met the mayor of the nearby Harmonica Town, who told me to go meet everyone.

Never mind meeting the people- first I ran around and approached every animal I could find! 🙂

I then talked to the townsfolk. Most were pretty nice, but on the whole, everyone seemed… depressed.

Why isn’t anything working right around here? After meeting everyone, my next goal was to talk to the Harvest Goddess. First, I had to feed this lame ass guy who couldn’t go get his own food. He needed to fix the bridge, but couldn’t do it on an empty stomach.

I had to go to Flute Fields (another nearby community) to buy him what he needed.

Once he ate and fixed the bridge, the Garmon Mines area was opened to me. I met everyone in town. They, like folks in Harmonica Town and Flute Fields, seemed depressed as well.

I then made my way to the Goddess Spring, where I was stopped by some pissed off animals!

Apparently I needed and “animal whistle” to be able to communicate with them. It was a bit of a wild goose chase to acquire one, but I finally got it. I befriended the animals guarding the Goddess Spring, then walked down the path that led me to the Harvest Goddess!

She explained to me that the elements of earth have all lost their strength and vitality, which is why everything sucks everywhere. She asked the Harvest Sprites to ring their bells, but they were too weak. So now it’s MY job to find the sprites and ring the bells. Uh, aren’t you the Harvest Goddess?! Why can’t YOU do it?!

Conclusion:

I love this game so far! There is a lot of stuff to do, but you never feel rushed! I love all of the characters and the animals are adorable too! I’ve already completed several tasks and I’ve found one bell and restored its power (I just have to ring it!).

If I have one small complaint about the game, it’s the fact that your stamina dips way too quickly. Just taking care of my crops in the morning depletes my stamina way more than it should, and raising it back up requires buying food (that is way too expensive) or eating a stupid mushroom that barely does anything for you. Despite this, I am having a great time with this game! It’s quite a long game, but I hope I can beat it within a reasonable time frame! 🙂

Four in February (in March) Progress, Week 3!

Well… damn. This week wasn’t very productive either!

One Game I’ve Been Playing Anyway: Super Mario Run!

I continued playing Super Mario Run a little bit this week, and I had enough Toads to unlock a Rainbow Bridge, which expanded my kingdom!

newarea

I haven’t put anything there yet (though I did get rid of the Thwomps) but I plan on decorating that area soon!

I was also really excited about the update which gives you the opportunity to unlock several different color Yoshis! I was not, however, impressed with the criteria for unlocking the Red Yoshi:

9999 total Toads and 1000 Yellow Toads?! Are they nuts? It’ll take me forever to get to that point!

Anyway, I’ve collected all pink coins up to World 2-1. It’s a bit of a grind to collect coins, but I’m not sick of it yet, so that’s a good thing.

One Game I Should Have Definitely Beaten By Now- Pokémon Blue!

Nothing to see here, carry on…

One Game I’ve Had Forever And Haven’t Touched- Harvest Moon: Animal Parade!

Yes! I did start playing this game! Go me! I’m gonna do a First Impressions post for it eventually, but here’s the title screen:

It is a really cute game and I love it so far! I’m currently on Year 1, Spring, Day 3.

One Game Together: ZombiU!

Sadly, no progress made here.

Bonus Game: Pokémon GO!

Friday night we finally went into an area where there are several Pokéstops, so I was able to replenish my stock of Pokéballs! I caught a couple new Pokémon, including Yanma…

Mantine…

Totodile…

and Seel!

What a bunch of cuties! I then evolved one of my Evees into Umbreon!

I also reached Level 19.

That’s it for my gameplay this week! I’m heading into the final week for my Four in February (in March) challenge, so let’s see if I can make more progress!
