(Sort of) Liebster Award… 2nd Attempt!

A little while ago, I wrote about how my friend The Shameful Narcissist posted some questions after receiving a Liebster Award, and she invited everyone to answer the questions! I happily answered them and after I completed the whole damn post, released I had answered the wrong set of questions! 😉 Here’s the post where I answered all the wrong ones. So now, I’m going to attempt to answer HER questions… let’s see if I can do it right this time! 😉

1. When you read, do you visualize characters and settings? As in, do the words create images in your mind?

Most definitely! That’s what I love about reading. I have a pretty vivid imagination even as an adult, so I immediately take the words and form pictures in my mind. That’s probably why I get mad when I read a book and I’ve visualized characters and settings in a certain way, and then I see the movie version and it just doesn’t compare to what I see in my mind!

Like SpongeBob, I have a big imagination! 😉

2. What’s your favorite kind of tea?

Well, I really love iced tea, especially lemon iced tea! I have a few different brands I like but Pure Leaf is amazing. I could drink that all day, every day and not get sick of it. I also love Arnold Palmers, which is a half iced tea/ half lemonade blend. I enjoy hot tea as well, especially Celestial Seasonings Sleepy Time Tea. I have to be careful with herbal teas though, because a lot of them make my heart race and that’s no fun.

Iced tea. Yep.

3. What’s the best game you’ve played or watched this year so far?

2018 is still quite young, but I have tried out a few new games so far this year! This answer may come as a surprise, but so far the game I have loved the most that I first played this year would have to be Thumper for the PlayStation VR. To me, it is amazing and though it is perfectly playable without VR, I can’t imagine doing so. Being immersed in that game with your headphones on and that intimidating, anxiety- inducing music is just an incredible experience!

Just looking at this image makes me want to play the game!

As far as games I’ve watched… I actually haven’t watched any this year so far! Weird, considering I do love watching people play games. I just haven’t had time to do so 😦

4. What’s the best book you’ve read this year so far?

Again, since 2018 is young, I haven’t read many books yet. Even so, I really have enjoyed Fluidus Rising and Mirror Sacrifice by the very talented Margo Ryerkerk! I did small reviews of both of these books here on my blog, so check them out if you’re interested! Her next book is supposed to come out soon, and I really can’t wait!

Awesome series!

5. Do you prefer to watch a show one episode at a time or binge watch?

Most of the time, I prefer one at a time… makes the show last longer and gives me something to look forward to! However, there are a couple shows I just can’t do that with and I prefer to binge watch… Stranger Things, 12 Monkeys, etc.!

So ready for this show to come back on, even though it’ll be the last season 😦

6. Do you prefer “people” names for pets or “non-people” names?

I don’t really care what other people do, but in general I like to name my pets “non-people” names. Naming your pets something fun and weird is part of the fun of owning an animal! 😉 Note that I do have a turtle named Bob, which is a “people” name… my aunt and uncle actually gave him to me as a Christmas present 20 years ago, and they called him Bob because he bobbed his head up and down in the water. The name just stuck for me, so I didn’t want to change it!

My sweet old man, who is currently shedding :/

7. What would you change your eye color to if you could?

You know, I’m quite happy with the color of my eyes, so I wouldn’t necessarily change them! They are dark blue and they occasionally look gray… though if I’m wearing a blue shirt, they’ll look a little lighter 🙂

8. Do you tan or burn?

I am really pale so man, do I burn 😦 I often joke that if I just look at the sun, I’ll start burning, which is why I am a goth LOL. In reality, I do enjoy being in the sun, but I just make sure I wear a high SPF sunscreen and always reapply!

My skin is almost this dramatic… seriously!

9. What’s your fictional/ fantasy job, as in, what would your job be if you lived in a fictional/ fantasy world?

Hmmm…. this is a tough one! So many cool choices! If I had to choose, I would say it’d be neat to be some sort of mercenary that goes after all the rotten assholes of the world… someone who takes them out and looks really cool doing it, then goes home and cuddles puppies afterwards!

I typed in “cuddly mercenary” and this popped up.

10. What’s your favorite dystopian city?

I’m gonna go with an odd choice here and say New New York from the  TV show Futurama! It may not be the first place that comes to mind when you think of “dystopian” but to me it still qualifies. It’s a dysfunctional, futuristic society that might still be all right to live in. Most other dystopian cities from novels and movies that I’m familiar with aren’t exactly fun places to be. In New New York, you never know what you’re gonna get! 😉

Bender is such an asshole, I love him!

11. How close is your blogger persona to your IRL one?

This is pretty much me! I try to write my blog posts in a very casual way, as if I were actually speaking to you in a real life conversation. What you see is what you get- I don’t see a point in it being any other way! After all, I’m not trying to impress anyone here 🙂

Well, there you have it! I successfully answered the correct questions from The Shameful Narcissist! It is always fun doing posts like this. I have a couple other blogging awards I need to get to as well, so hopefully I’ll get those published soon!

Christmas Money Goodies!

Along with the great gifts I received for Christmas, I also received some cash and gift cards, which is always great! That means I treated myself to several gaming related goodies. Did you really think I would spend that money on anything else? 😉 Fine… I did buy some photo bins for my 5 billion photos I have printed out… anyway! On to the goodies!

The day after Christmas, my husband and I ventured out to GameStop and Target and came home with several goodies!

gaminggoodies1

Quantum Break was my husband’s choice, but all the rest were mine hee hee 🙂 They were pretty good deals… Yo Kai Watch 2 was only $11 (Target had it in their clearance section), Summon Night 6 was I think $20, and The Walking Dead was free because GameStop was running a promotion! Sweet! And I’ve had my eye on that Goomba amiibo since it came out!

Side note: the back cover of Summon Night 6 is funny as hell, and the game cartridge has the cutest little character on it! I’m not familiar with this series, but did some research on it and seems like it’ll be fun.

Then the next day my husband ventured to a different Target and found THIS:

snesclassic

An SNES Classic in the wild?! For a reasonable price?! I could hardly believe my eyes. I’m so happy to have one!

snesclassicandsnes

In a subsequent trip to Target and Cybertron (a local video game store I’ve mentioned before in other posts) we bought this stuff:

gaminggoodies2.jpeg

The Zelda case is awesome and holds my New 2DS XL perfectly, so I love it! I took a chance on Tengen for the Sega Genesis because I’ve never heard of it before, but it seems like a fun little puzzler.

I got myself a couple game guides off of Amazon:

Along with some more Animal Crossing cards. Hey, I only needed to spend only 65 FUCKING CENTS to get free shipping, so I picked some AC cards to throw me over 😉

Then I bought 2 games that made me very happy:

new3dsgames

New Kirby releases are always must- haves for me, and I love Mario Party games even though they are often infuriating!

Then just today, I bought these two games at Best Buy:

The Longest 5 Minutes definitely has an interesting premise: you actually start the game at the final boss, but you lose your memory and have to piece everything back together to figure out who you are and what you’re doing! I’ve been wanting Radiant Historia for a little while and I didn’t realize it was out, so I was happy to pick it up!

I also downloaded Kirby’s Blowout Blast on my 3DS, which is ridiculously cute and fun!

On my 2DS XL I wasted no time starting my SNES/ Game Boy collection, as I bought:

Donkey Kong Country
Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy’s Kong Quest
Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong’s Double Trouble
Donkey Kong Land
Donkey Kong Land 2
Donkey Kong Land 3
Pokemon Trading Card Game
Super Mario Kart

Horray for gift cards! 🙂 Now hopefully I can actually play all these games…

Blinky vs. Pac-Man!

As many of you may know, I’m a huge animal lover. I have several pets and while I do love dogs and cats (and have one of each!), I’ve always loved reptiles and amphibians. Some people get grossed out by them, but since I was a kid I’ve always had nothing but love for them!! I have posted a picture of my bearded dragon before, but I also have 4 turtles, an axolotl, a beta fish (not a reptile, but not soft and cuddly either haha) and a Pac-Man frog! 🙂

The Pac-Man frog is my newest addition. I got him at a reptile expo in early December, and he was only a couple weeks old when I adopted him. While trying to come up with the perfect name for him, I thought about Pac-Man and how the ghosts are always chasing him. One of the ghosts’ names is Blinky, and well… the name just stuck!

While the video game Blinky is always on the move, my Blinky is not so active. Pac-Man frogs spend most of their lives just chilling in the dirt, waiting for their food to pass by their face. They don’t move around a whole lot! I thought it would be fun to get my little Pac-Man stress ball and put it next to Blinky to see if I got any sort of reaction out of him.

blinkyandpacman

… nope! Blinky gives no shits about Pac-Man 😉 I’m not exactly surprised, but I thought it would be a fun picture to take anyway!

By the way, Blinky is just under 3 months old now, so he’s still got quite a bit of growing to do. He is already like twice the size he was when I got him, so he’s on the right track! 🙂

Christmas Goodies!

Yeah, yeah, it’s February and I’m just now writing about what gaming related goodies I got for Christmas… so what! 😉 I started off the new year just wonderfully… I had laryngitis that lasted 3 weeks! I finally got rid of it and felt pretty good up until Tuesday night when I started getting stuffy… and now I have a lovely cold. Ugh! I don’t have time for this shit, I have a new piercing and tattoo I want to get and I need to get well so I can heal up properly! 😉

Anyway, turns out Santa was pretty damn good to me on Christmas! I received a Nintendo Switch, a Pro Controller and a carrying case along with a New Nintendo 2DS XL:

newconsoles

Two editions of Monopoly Gamer as well as an additional game piece (Luigi):

newboardgames

Two Switch games:

switchgames

Two Nintendo 3DS games:

3dsgames

And two more Kirby keychains (dammit, now I have two Meta Knights haha):

newkirbykeychains

So, I got a lot of great stuff! I am so thankful to have a Switch, and it has received quite a bit of playtime so far. I’ll write about that in another blog post, though! I also am happy to have a 2DS XL, because I had been wanting one to download SNES and Game Boy games on. It’s perfect!

Santa (or should I say Mrs. Claus?) was good to my husband as well, because he has been really enjoying a shiny new PlayStation VR setup! It’s been super fun to play, and it doesn’t make me as dizzy/ sick as I thought it would. I can’t play it for long periods of time, but I’m glad I can have fun with it too!

Of course, I bought myself some more gaming goodies with my Christmas money, so I’ll show all that stuff in the next post! 😉
