About The Game

Mario Tennis Aces was released for the Nintendo Switch in 2018. It has some kind of whacked out plot, but who the fuck pays attention to that? I didn’t. I have the attention span of a mosquito. Something about an evil tennis racket maybe?

What I Liked

There are so many different characters to play as! It’s neat to see all different denizens of the Mushroom Kingdom on the roster. I also liked the different environments and the fact that there are several game modes to choose from.

What I Didn’t Like

The game’s impressive roster is also kind of its downfall- because there are so many different characters, each with their own special moves, it can get a little confusing. Also, the Reflection Room in Adventure Mode can kiss my ass.

Closing Thoughts

I considered this game beaten when I beat the easiest cup in Tournament Mode. I don’t really have the skills to advance much farther- but it’s fun to dip in and play a quick match now and then!

  1. While I’m disappointed that Bowser Jr. didn’t start some shit in this game too, I still enjoyed your review 😀 I haven’t played a great Mario Tennis game since Gamecube (or maybe it was Nintendo 64) so I really hope this game is good. When I get a Switch, I will probably try and pick it up!

    1. Haha, this time it was Wario and Waluigi starting shit! 😉 This game is pretty fun, though it’s hard to keep track of all the special moves! It might be worth checking out since you liked previous Mario Tennis games 🙂

  2. Oh, boy, I still remember the Reflection Room. Not a fan of it at all.

Anyway, I played it when it came out, and I remember it being very bare-bones back then. I am sure it is better now thanks to all updates.

    1. The Reflection Room almost made me rage quit, and that doesn’t happen to me very often haha! For me, this game has a decent amount of content, but I’ll probably just dip in to quickly play a match every now and then versus trying to beat the story mode!
