End Game Thoughts: Mario Party: The Top 100!

About The Game

Amazon.com: Mario Party: The Top 100 - Nintendo 3DS: Nintendo of America: Video Games

Mario Party: The Top 100 was released for the Nintendo 3DS in 2017 in North America. There are few different modes in this game (including a simple board map and a story mode) but the main focus of this game is just playing the minigames, which is awesome! After all, the minigames are the best part about the Mario Party games. Some of the games are locked until you come across them in Story Mode.

What I Liked

Mario Party: The Top 100 | Nintendo 3DS | Games | Nintendo

There are a lot of fun minigames in this compilation! I especially enjoyed playing some old favorites from Mario Parties 1-4, because those are the games I’m most familiar with. It was fun seeing the games with updated graphics, too!

What I Didn’t Like

Beach Volley Folly - Super Mario Wiki, the Mario encyclopedia

There are definitely some cheap ass, annoying minigames included in this compilation as well, which is unsurprising. I hate luck-based games! And the beach volleyball game can kiss my ass forever and ever, I hate it.

I really enjoyed this game a lot! It’s fun to just play through the minigames without having to worry about some asshole stealing your stars, coins, or both!

End Game Thoughts: Kirby’s Extra Epic Yarn!

So, I actually beat this game back in April of this year… I’m still a few months behind on all my posts I want to do, but I think I’m making some good headway. I’m also catching up on reading everyone else’s posts too, which is awesome! I’m taking some time off starting Friday (which happens to be my birthday!) and I’ll be off of work all the way until August 6th. Not sure how much time I’ll spend on the internet considering my husband and I are probably going to the beach and other fun stuff if the weather holds up (plus our anniversary is the 29th). Anyway, why am I blabbering so much?! On to the whole point of this post… my End Game Thoughts on the wonderful Kirby’s Extra Epic Yarn!

About The Game

Image result for kirby's extra epic yarn 3ds

Kirby’s Extra Epic Yarn was released for the Nintendo 3DS in March 2019. Naturally, I bought the game the day it came out… it’s Kirby, duh! I’m so proud that I actually bought a damn game and played it close to its release date instead of like 15 years later! Anywho. This game is actually an enhanced port of Kirby’s Epic Yarn for the Nintendo Wii. It featured new abilities, modes, etc.

If you’ve played the original, you know the story for this one… some asswipe named Yin Yarn has been turning the inhabitants of a place called Patch Land into yarn because he’s a freaking weirdo. Prince Fluff (who looks suspiciously like Kirby) asks Kirby for help and because Kirby’s such a sweet little guy, he just jumps right in!

What I Liked

Playing this game just feels so… cozy. That’s the best word I can use to describe it. When you want to relax after a long, annoying day, playing this game is the perfect escape. The beautifully designed levels and chill music never fail to give me a relaxing vibe. Plus, it’s so damn adorable, you can’t help but smile while you are playing it.

I also enjoyed some of the power-ups present in this game. The original Epic Yarn didn’t have them, and while they aren’t necessary to get through the game, they were fun additions that I liked using.

What I Didn’t Like

Losing all my beads because I suck ass and keep getting hit by the same enemy over and over. But that’s my problem, not the game’s!

This game is absolutely wonderful. It was a joy to play through and brightened up my cold, dark little heart every time I played! Plus with new modes and extras, there are more reasons to keep playing after you kick Yin Yarn’s ass.

End Game Thoughts: WarioWare Gold!

Game Title: WarioWare Gold
Platform: Nintendo 3DS
Hours Played: approximately 3-5

About the Game

File:WarioWare Gold NA cover.png

WarioWare Gold is a Nintendo 3DS game that was released in North America in 2018. Wait- you mean I actually played and beat a game that came out the SAME year is was released?! Amazing! Anyway, I’ve been a huge fan of WarioWare games since the very beginning, so I was really excited to play this game.

WarioWare games generally follow the same formula: Wario has some wacky plot to make money, and you play microgames to help achieve his goal. Or destroy his plans… What’s the point of these games again? Who cares! It’s all about the microgames!

I considered the game beaten when I completed the main story mode, though there is certainly other modes to play and other goodies to unlock!

What I Liked

Image result for warioware gold screenshots

Of course, the main thing I love about this game is the microgames themselves! For those unfamiliar, microgames are exactly what they sound like: short, 2-3 second games that often require split second timing to complete. Some are pretty easy (mashing the A button) while some might have to appear a few times to get the hang of it. It’s a pretty balanced set of microgames- I didn’t feel like there were any that were unfair, though a few were kind of cheap. Overall, most of the games were pretty fun.

Image result for warioware gold screenshots

Speaking of the games, I also love how this game is a nod to the WarioWare series as a whole. There are microgames from most of the other games in the series, along with many new microgames as well. The variety kept things fresh, and I never knew what to expect!

What I Didn’t Like

Okay, so my one main gripe with this game is something that most other people seem to enjoy: the voice acting. It annoys me. There, I said it. WarioWare’s wacky cutscenes are fully voice acted, and I couldn’t stand it! Wario’s voice is spot-on and made me laugh, but everyone else just made my ears bleed. WarioWare’s game plots are always ridiculous anyway, but I think hearing the silliness actually spoken out loud just made me cringe more than anything.

Closing Thoughts

Overall, I really loved this game! It’s fun, it’s easy to just pick up and play, and the experience is different every time you turn the game on. It’s great to play in short spurts when you have just a few minutes of free time. The story mode is just one of many modes to play, so there’s a lot of end game content to enjoy. WarioWare Gold is another solid entry in the series!

My Gaming Month in Review: September 2018!

Yeah, October is almost halfway over and I am just now posted this… sorry! I would really love to be back on a more consistent posting schedule. I just don’t have much energy lately 😦

Also, sorry if this post is a little boring because there aren’t any screenshots or anything. I did take some, but lack the motivation to edit and insert them. Ah well.

In Super Mario Odyssey, I finished up the Snow Kingdom- I had to participate in a race which was actually pretty fun. The way the little Shiverian I was controlling bounced around was slightly tricky, but I managed to win.

After saying goodbye to the Snow Kingdom, I headed to the Luncheon Kingdom, which was bright and colorful and full of food!

However, despite the kingdom’s whimsical look, this place was a death trap! I died more than once getting stuck in the purple… lava stuff? I don’t really know what it was. Anyway, at one point I possessed a piece of meat.

That was one of the weirdest things I’ve done in the game so far. I then finished off the Luncheon Kingdom by battling Cookatiel.

Next up was the Ruined Kingdom… I loved the look of this kingdom! So dark, gloomy and ominous. I fought a bad ass dragon, and I thought he was a lot of fun. Too bad there wasn’t more to do in this kingdom, though.

After the dragon, I headed to Bowser’s Kingdom. I loved the Japanese aesthetic! It was really cool. This kingdom was basically a gauntlet of stuff that wanted to kill me…. not to mention the horribly aggravating boss, Robobrood! I couldn’t wait to be done with that fucker.

Finally, I got to the Moon Kingdom. Because, you know, Bowser wanted to get married on the moon! The way the church bells rang was pretty eerie. I had to do some ass backwards stuff to get to the hill the church was on, but that’s okay. It was time to face Bowser, which was a fight similar to the fight in Cloud Kingdom. I managed to whip his butt after a few tries, but then shit started going down and crumbling all around me. So I did the natural thing to do… I possessed Bowser and started destroying everything to get us out of there! It was a fun and frantic way to end the game!

With that being said, I beat Super Mario Odyssey! One thing I love about this game (which I know many of you already know) is that the end game is so expansive- there are so many reasons to keep playing even after the credits roll! I spent quite awhile in Mushroom Kingdom afterwards, just wandering around and collecting Power Moons. Speaking of Power Moons, my current total is 161- so I have a LONG way to go!

My husband bought me WarioWare Gold, and I started playing it right away! WarioWare is one of those series I’ve always loved since the first game came out on the Game Boy Advance! WarioWare Gold has many microgames from the past games in the series, as well as new ones!

There are a few different “leagues” of microgames, each with a different host character. My favorite has always been Ashley 😉

I’ve already played through all of the Mash League and the Twist League. I’m currently on the Touch League with 9-Volt! So far, I am in love with this game. The microgames are quick, weird, and fast- paced!

I am plugging away with Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp. One event in September was Brewster’s Sweet Harvest, which was a gardening event. I didn’t mind this event, actually, even though I don’t really care for gardening events. However, it seems like the catch rate was improved this time around, which really helped! Plus, you got sweet grape related furniture, and I really loved the look of it.

Another event going on this month was the Blitz Clam Scavenger Hunt. It’s basically just like the gyroid scavenger hunts, but with blitz clams, which are items from Splatoon. I’m not very familiar with the Splatoon games, so I can’t say much about them. Anyway, you collected the clams to craft Splatoon- related clothing with them, and they are kind of cool!

There was also Fishing Tourney #6 this month, which also featured Splatoon- themed prizes. Plus, you got to catch colorful squid and octopus (octopi?)!

Also, Jack’s Halloween Hunt (a gardening event) began! I LOVE HALLOWEEN SO MUCH! All the spooky prizes you can get from this event are amazing. However… it didn’t start out too promising. Barely any bats spawned on my flowers, dammit!

Um also… the spooky terrains are awesome but HELL NO I’m not spending like $30 to get all of it! Pisses me off. I want to earn these things by playing the game, not by spending money on them.

I’m currently at Level 95, and I have 111/ 113 animals invited to my camp!

I played a bit of Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery this month as well. I still need to complete my classes to finish off Year 1, Chapter 7, but I got sidetracked by Hagrid’s Birthday Party preparations. I didn’t finish those either, oops!

Other

SNES Classic

I’ve decided to revisit a couple of my favorite games on the SNES Classic this month. First up is Donkey Kong Country, which remains one of my favorite games of all time. I cannot even tell you how many times I’ve played through and beaten this game, but I enjoy it every time! And the crazy jumps in Mine Cart Carnage (as well as the anxiety- inducing music) always make my hands sweaty no matter how many times I play it!

I am currently in World 2: Monkey Mines, Level 5: Millstone Mayhem.

I also played a bit of Super Mario Kart. While I am a huge Mario Kart 8/Mario Kart 8 Deluxe fan, I at times miss the simplicity of the original. No blue shells, no real drifting… just good old- fashioned kart racing! I played through the 50cc Mushroom Cup, and I won the gold.

That’s all the gaming I did in September! See ya next time!

My Gaming Month in Review: September 2017!

It’s officially fall, October is here, Halloween is right around the corner… this is one of my favorite times of year! We don’t really have much of a “fall” where I live, but I live vicariously through my Animal Crossing towns! Wow, I just realized how sad that sounded… ha! Anyway, here’s a look at the games I played in September!

I continued playing Doubutsu no Mori for the N64 so I could pay off more of my debt! The rainy season continued… nearly every time I played, it was raining!

However, on September 30th, it was a nice, sunny day with lots of bugs jumping around. It was as if summer was saying goodbye!

niceendofseptday

I was eager to make more money to pay off more of my mortgage, but when I went to Nook’s, I discovered the lottery was happening! I forgot that on the last day of the month, there is a lottery and you can’t sell anything. Dammit! I couldn’t even play, because I didn’t have any tickets. 😦

raffleday

I still made a small payment towards my mortgage anyway. I now owe 213,000 Bells!

owe213kbells

In Harvest Moon: Animal Parade for the Wii, Owen sent me a love letter!

He still seems a little pushy, haha.

I entered the Harvest Festival vegetable contest, but apparently I had no idea what I was doing, because I got last place! Ugh!

lastplaceloser

Finally, Fall turned into Winter! Winter is so beautiful… and I love when the snow falls! I also love the music that plays during this season. It’s like a mix between Animal Crossing and the Sims! 🙂

niceandsnowyprettywinter

However… why the fuck do giant rocks randomly appear in my field sometimes?!

giantrandomrocks

I had enough money and materials to upgrade my house, woo hoo! I was surprised the change was immediate. I figured I’d at least have to wait a day!

Finally, I got Renee’s wish! Three people down, seven more to go!

I decided it was time to get another animal, so I bought a foal and named it Rodeo. How cute!

newhorserodeo

I also met the snowman, who is totally awesome! He gives you presents every morning if you give him a nose, haha! I gave him a carrot to use as a nose, which was just what he wanted!

The first present I got from the snowman was a perfect potato. This is just what I needed to make Humphrey the Hippo a veggie pizza so his ass would go back to the circus. Whew!

Lastly, Owen said he wanted to talk to me. He asked me to be his girlfriend, so now it’s official! 🙂

As of the end of September, I was on Year 1, Winter, Day 8.

Oh, and, um, it said my pet snake and I were practically twins. Thanks?

twinswithslither

I wanted to get into the Halloween mood, so I decided to play a game I’ve had on my iPad for awhile called Haunted Halloween Escape.

hauntedhalloweenescapetitlescreen

This game is exactly what it sounds like- you have to escape from a haunted room. The graphics are a bit blurry and not that great.

Some parts of the game are silly- like, why is this ghost blocking the desk?

theghostisblockingthedesk

Don’t get me started on this cheesy vampire.

dumbassvampire

I found the recipe to escape… and discovered I kind of suck at puzzle solving.

cantescape

When I escaped, Dracula was at the door, but after I gave him some candy, he went away. No, I’m not kidding.

dumbdracula

Maybe I shouldn’t have played this game before bed, but I felt like it was more irritating than anything. The graphics weren’t great, some of the puzzles weren’t even clear, and there were also a few misspellings that were kind of silly. A decent game to waste a half hour on, I suppose, but not one I’ll be playing again.

I did make a small amount of progress on Juice Cubes for the iPhone, stopping on Level 36. It forces you to wait at this point until you collect “map pieces” which is kind of lame. But since summer is over, my time playing this game is over for now! 🙂

level36

I made a little bit of progress in The Legendary Starfy this month too. I played a level in which you had to swim through bubbles, and surprisingly it was kind of fun!

bubblelevel

Overall, though, I feel like I just want to get through these levels as quickly as possible. I don’t really care about finding any extras, I just want this game done.

weirdbutcute

I beat the boss of Sogwood Forest and got the 5th shard, go me!

ronkboss

Another stage, another annoying gameplay mechanic… you have to spin/ step on a button to make the water rise, and it really sucks!

annoyingbuttons

As of the end of September, I was on Stage 5-2 Glitzem Grotto: Rickety Ride.

starfyprogress

Lastly, this month I checked in on all my little friends in Tomodachi Life! Since my cousin recently had a baby, I decided to add him into the mix. Welcome, Cameron! 🙂

welcomecameron

The first food I fed him- a cheeseburger- turned out to be his super all time favorite food!

Meanwhile, Don dreamed that he was a skeleton keychain dangling off of a backpack. Wow.

So, that about wraps it up for my gaming month in review. See ya next time!

It Sucks To Be Writing A Post Like This Again…

It was really sad to dedicate a blog post to my grandfather after he passed away a couple months ago, and here we are again… a few days ago we had to say goodbye to my mother-in-law, who passed away from cancer at the young age of 59.

My mother-in-law was a super sweet lady who led a simple life, never needing or wanting much more than to hang out with family and take care of her animals. She always had kind words to say and would never let anyone leave without giving them a hug and telling them she loved them.

Just like with my grandfather, my mother-in-law is forever immortalized in Tomodachi Life, hanging out with everyone else in the family.

It sucks to be going through another loss so soon, but once again, Tomodachi Life is helping me out in its weird, wonderful little way.

I’ll be back with more posts soon, just wanted to dedicate this one to my mother-in-law. Thanks for reading.

So, I decided to try out Fire Emblem Heroes this week. The graphics are really nice!

fehtitlescreen

I tried out a few of the levels, but… I just can’t seem to get into it!

The game isn’t too hard to figure out, and the story isn’t bad. I just feel like there are a ton of characters I know nothing about, since I haven’t played any of the previous Fire Emblem games.

I did use orbs to summon a few heroes, but I should’ve waited until I had a couple more, since I only had enough to summon 4 of them! Oops.

Anyway, it really is a bummer, because I WANT to like this game so bad. Nothing about it really grabs my attention and makes me want to play it again, though. Plus with all the different characters and different stats, etc. etc., it’s a lot to learn- and I don’t really feel like learning it right now. I’m glad to see so many other people enjoying it though! For now, though, I’ll probably focus my attention elsewhere.

I played a little bit of Pokémon GO this week, and I caught 3 new Pokémon! They were Natu…

Teddiursa (HOW CUTE)…

and Hoppip!

I played through some more Super Mario Run this week. I am loving this game! I still plan on doing a First Impressions post of it sometime this friggin’ year (I’m sooo slow) but this is the level I am currently on:

Poochy & Yoshi’s Woolly World!

Ever since the Poochy amiibo was announced last September, I wanted it so bad! I was happy that it came bundled with Poochy & Yoshi’s Woolly World for the 3DS, so of course I pre-ordered it the second I could!

On Saturday, I got a text from Amazon saying it was delivered, but oops! I accidentally had it delivered to my work instead of my house! I sent all of Michael’s Christmas presents to my work, so I just never changed the address. I normally don’t work Saturdays, and we are closed on Sundays, but I was SO tempted to drive to work and get it. Problem was, I was feeling very lazy. It takes me about 35 minutes to get to work, and I just wasn’t in the mood for the drive!

So Monday, the first thing I did when I got to work was open my package! I was so excited! The Poochy amiibo is even more adorable in person!

poochy1

The game, of course, looks adorable as well! Michael and I just beat Yoshi’s Woolly World for the Wii U (which I will be writing about soon!) so I may not play this game right away, but I’m happy I have it!

Here’s a close up of Poochy, just because he’s too adorable!

Besides the Mega Yarn Yoshi, this might just be my favorite amiibo 😉 I’m such a sucker for cute things…

My Gaming Week in Review (1/29- 2/04)!

I finally showed some loved to my poor, abandoned Doubutsu no Mori town of Weezey this week! Many of my villagers expressed their displeasure about the fact that they had not seen me in 5 months! Sorry, guys!

cutedalman

My favorite villager, Sutoroberi, told me I hadn’t spoken to her in 8 months, which is pretty sad!

sadsutoroberi

The saddest thing, however, was when I spoke to Hippocrates and this dialogue popped up.

poorhippocrates
Hippocrates is kind of blending into his house… oops.

Roughly translated, he is saying that he waited around for me for 10 months and was excited, but then he wondered if I disliked him because he never saw me! Then he said something else that I didn’t translate and me being the click-happy fool I am, whatever response I chose made him sad! I KNOW he’s not real, but I still felt bad. I’m going to send him a present to try to make it up to him!

I found an igloo, so I popped in and had a visit with Hyakupa. I’m not really sure what is cooking behind her, but it kept inflating and deflating every few seconds. It’s different from the little pot of chowder that is in the localized version of Animal Crossing. If anyone knows what that is, please let me know! 🙂

igloofun

Anyway, I actually played this game for a couple hours, just talking to my villagers and finding ways to make money so I can pay off my ungodly mortgage payment! I was playing as the sun was setting, and I like the way it looked in this picture!

sunset

One thing I noticed that was weird… despite the fact that I had not played in 5 months, not ONE weed was in my town! Not that I’m complaining or anything. Maybe weeds don’t grow in the winter in this game?

After a little while, I took a break from playing. When I loaded my game again, it was snowing!

suddenlysnowing

This probably doesn’t sound overly exciting, but I know in Animal Crossing for the GameCube, the weather is what it is all day long and it doesn’t change.  So the fact that this game has weather changes throughout the day is pretty cool!

Since it was Saturday, I stopped by the railroad tracks and had Totakeke play a song for me. Don’t ask me what it was though, for some reason I couldn’t translate it!

I spent the rest of my time shaking trees and fishing so I could earn more cash! One of these days my mortgage will be paid off…

I made some progress in The Legendary Starfy this week. I continued my journey in Hotcha Springs, where Starfy happily flew through the air, pushed upwards by hot steam…

Weee, he’s so happy!

And he also pushed some stupid rocks around to… pop some little fish so I could get through a door.

starfypushingarock
He doesn’t look like he’s having fun anymore…

Seriously. Pushing rocks around underwater kind of sucks. Anyway, Starfy also learned how to glide through the air so he could save these weird little octopi called The Squirts, who make a name for themselves telling really awful jokes.

starfygliding
Both Starfy and the octopus were moving when I took this pic, so it’s a little blurry. Sorry!

This game is kind of insane, but I like it! I left off on Level 2-4 Hotcha Springs: Hot-Spring Snapper Battle.

Nintendo 3DS

I checked on my little town of Tilt in Animal Crossing New Leaf: Welcome amiibo. The first thing I did was link my town to my Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer file. I’ve been meaning to do that since I got the game. 🙂 Now I can get exclusive furniture and all that fun stuff!

My Gaming Week in Review (1/22- 1/28)!

My post is a little late this week, sorry about that! I normally like to post my weekly reviews on Sundays, but I had a terrible headache for a couple days that put me behind. Not that I have that much to write about anyway, but let’s see what games I played this week! 🙂

Michael and I continued to play through Yoshi’s Woolly World. The game is increasing in difficulty a little bit, but nothing we can’t handle! We finished up World 4, which threw some spikes at us as well as some very strange waterfalls, then we faced off in an epic battle against Petey Piranha!

After kicking Petey’s butt, we moved on to World 5. World 5 is an icy, wintery world that is so pretty! Makes me want it to be Christmas again… anyway, check out some screenshots from World 5!

And here’s an adorable snowman and Mega Yarn Yoshi! 🙂

We left off on World 5-6: Up Shuttlethread Pass. I have no idea what that even means, but I guess we’ll find out!

Handheld

Nintendo 3DS

I had time to briefly visit my Animal Crossing New Leaf: Welcome Amiibo town of Tilt this week. Remember last week how Poppy wanted me to come over, then Genji immediately wanted to come over to my house? Well, they both sent me gifts for hanging out with them! Genji sent me a boomerang, while Poppy sent me an azalea bush. Thanks, friends!

As you can see, there’s still a lot of upgrading I can do. This game keeps you busy for awhile, and I like that.

I played just a little bit of Pokémon GO this week. It wasn’t working properly most of the time when I was trying to play, so oh well. I finally evolved my Staryu into a Starmie…

And I caught a Seadra, you guessed it… at work! 🙂 Seadra is the evolution of Horsea, so now I don’t have to worry about evolving the one I have!
